Agriculture officials meet growers in Punjab, urge them to shun stubble burning

After an increase in stubble burning cases, senior officials of the Agriculture Department have started visiting various districts, and are conducting direct meetings with farmers and sharing latest techniques with them.

Dr Rajesh Vasisht, Director, Agriculture Department, along with the Joint Director and other officials, visited various villages in Barnala district on Saturday.

During their visit, they got detailed feedback from farmers about their problems and requirements and also shared all schemes and latest techniques with them to prevent farm fires...

...Harwinder Singh from Dhanauala, who cultivates various crops on his 65 acres without burning the stubble for the past six years, said he had been getting support from the government. Another farmer Gurjeet Singh also got appreciation from officials for cultivating less water-guzzling crops.
