Raag dhanaasiree mehalaa 3 ghar 4
Sathiguru Amardaasjee Maharaj is blessing us in Dhanaasiree raag. Sathiguru Sahibjee speaks in ghar 4 - in the fourth house of rhythm and beat.

Ik oankaar sathigur prasaadh |
There is One eternal Lord who is Ik - one Lord God, one Ik oankaar - nourisher, creator and destroyer of all and everything is within His kaar - within His will who is found through the sathigur prasaadh - through the grace of the Guru. Sathiguru Sahibjee begins the shabad,

Ham bheekhak bhaekhaaree thaerae thoo nij path hai dhaathaa |
I am a beggar, but I am not a beggar of the roads, I am not a beggar of the doors. Sathiguru Maharaj jee is telling us what sort of beggar you should be. Ham bheekhak bhaekhaaree thaerae - yes I do beg, but bkhaekhaaree thaerae - but Sathiguru Sahibjee says I am Your beggar, beggar at Your door at no one else's door, only come to Your door in pain and happiness, in the ups and downs. Thoo nij path hai dhaathaa - path meaning husband Lord, You are my master forever and ever, there is no master greater than You. You are the greatest master; You are the dhaathaa - forever giving. Sathiguru Amardaasjee is teaching us in this first line Gurmukh piaareya if you want to beg, beg from that One Lord God Waheguru. Do not beg at many doors. Come to the one door of Sathiguru in happiness and in pain.

Hohu dhaiaal naam dhaehu mangath jan kano sadhaa reho rang raathaa |1|
Hohu dhiaal - O Waheguru please be merciful, naam dhaehu - bless me with Your name O God. Mangath jan kao - I am a humble servant of Yours, please bless me with the naam. What will happen if I am blessed with the Naam? Sadhaa reho rang raathaa - forever and ever I will remain raathaa - completely imbued, completely colored in the color of Your love Waheguru.

Haon balihaarai jaao saachae thaerae naam vittahu |
Haon - I am balihaarai - means to be a sacrifice. Balihaarai means to be haarai - to have given up on one's own strength. Waheguru I've none of my own strengths, I do not rely on my clever tricks or my physical power, on anything; the tricks of the mind or of my body or anything. I've given up on all of these things. I've given up all of my power, all of my strengths. Saachae thaerae naam vittahu - upon Your true name, saachae means true, naam means name.

Karan kaaran sabhanaa kaa eaeko avar n dhoojaa koee |1| rehaao |
Sabhanaa kaa - of all there is karan kaaran - cause of all causes. God is the One who causes all causes, one who creates, nourishes and destroys. There is no other I can go to and there is no other as great as You, O Waheguru. Rehaao - pause and think about this.

Bahuthae faer peae kirapan ko ab kish kirapaa keejai |
Sathiguru Sahibjee I've been through bahuthae - many faer - meaning wonderings, many cycles of rebirth. Kirapan ko - as a miser, what does a miser mean? Someone who is afraid to spend their wealth, what wealth have we got? We have the wealth of each breath and we are so miserly, such misers when it comes to giving our breath to the Guru, chanting the Guru's baanee, reading the Guru's shabad, singing the Guru's keertan, going to Guru's house but when it comes to worldly things we are happy to spend all of our breaths. We gamble our breath away on slander and all of these things in the world but when it comes to reading the Guru's shabad we become misers. In this way I've spent many of my lives. Ab kish kirapaa keejai - in this life You've blessed me with human body please bless me with even a spec, kish, of Your kirapaa - of Your glory.

Hohu dhaeiaal dharasan dhaehu apunaa aisee bakhas kareejai |2|
Please be merciful O Waheguru dharasan dhaehu apunaa - bless me with Your apunaa - with Your own dharasan - with your own vision so that I can see You pervading throughout all. Aisee bakhas kareejai - this is the bakhas, this is the honor, this is the gift, this is the present I am asking for.

Bhanath naanak bharam patt khoolaae gur parasaadhee jaaniaa |
Sathiguru Amardaasjee says, bharam patt khoolaae gur parasaadhee jaaniaa - through the Guru's parasaadhee - through the Guru's grace I've jaaniaa - I've come to realize that Waheguru is abiding within me. The bharam patt - the veils of illusion and doubt and all of these things which were separating me from that Waheguru who lives within me khoolaae - have all been removed. The veil of falsehood has been removed. But how? - Gur parasaadhee - through the Guru's grace,

Saachee liv laagee hai bheethar sathigur sio man maaniaa |3|1|9|
Within me saachee liv laagee - my consciousness has been attached to saachee - to that True Love of God. Sathigur sio man maaniaa - but this only happened when my mind came to maaniaa -came to respect and follow out what the Guru had said. When I fell at the Guru's feet with my mind, body and soul then the Guru took away the veils of illusion.

Bhanath naanak bharam patt khoolaae gur parasaadhee jaaniaa |
Saachee liv laagee hai bheethar sathigur sio man maaniaa |3|1|9|

Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Jee Ki Fateh!
