Ik oa(n)kaar sathigur prasaadh ||
There is One eternal Waheguru, Who is forever sath, Who is eternal, The eternal truth, The creator, nourisher, destroyer of all, Who is gur, Who is forever awake and enlightening, and Who is prasaadh, Who is giver of all happiness and peace. Sathiguru Sahib Jee beings the shabad -

Saevak saev karehi sabh thaeree jin sabadhai saadh aaeiaa ||
All of Your saevak, all of your servants serve You with that attitude of selfless service. Jin sabadhai saadh aaeiaa, Guru Jee says that truly those people are Your servants, those people truly serve You inwardly and outwardly who have found the saadh, the taste of the sabadh, of The Guru's words. When they repeat Waheguru Waheguru they are getting pleasure, they are getting peace, they are getting comfort which cannot be fathomed.

Gur kirapaa thae niramal hoaa jin vichahu aap gavaaeiaa ||
With the Guru's kirpa, with The Guru's grace, those humble beings become niramal, they become puririfed, jin vichahu aap gavaaeiaa, who have gavaaeiaa, who have lost their sense of aap, vichahu - from within them. Who have lost their sense of self, their sense of ego, their sense of I. those that have lost their sense of I, they have become purified.

Anadhin gun gaavehi nith saachae gur kai sabadh suhaaeiaa ||1||
What do those people do? Anadhin - day and night, gun gaavehi, they sing the gun, the praises of Waheguru. Nith saachae, which are forever and forever eternal. Gur kai sabadh suhaaeiaa, they are suhaaeiaa, they are decorated, with wordly decorations? No. They are decorated with The Guru's shabad, The Guru's words. Wherever they go, they have The Guru's words with them. Whether they are sitting or walking, they can meditate on The Guru's words.

Maerae t(h)aakur ham baarik saran thumaaree ||
Maerae t(h)aakur, O my Lord Waheguru, ham baarik saran thumaaree. I am baarik, I am a child. Saran thumaaree, I've entered into Your saran, into Your protection.

Eaeko sachaa sach thoo kaeval aap muraaree || rehaao ||
I've seen in this world that only one, only You Waheguru are sachaa, the truest of true, You are the only True eternal Waheguru. Eaeko sachaa, in this world, and sach thoo, in the next world You are true. Eaeko sachaa, within me You are the truth, outside of me, sach thoo, I see You pervading through all. Everywhere I see kaeval, only there is aap, Waheguru Himself, Who is muraaree, destroyer of all bad thoughts and evil. That one Waheguru Akal Purakh Sachhe Paatshah, You are The one sitting in all, You are the only truth. Guru Sahib Jee says rehaao - pause and think about this today.

Jaagath rehae thinee prabh paaeiaa sabadhae houmai maaree ||
Jaagath rehae thinee prabh paaeiaa. Those who remain awake, how do you remain awake? Those who have awoken in the amritvela, in the ambrosial hours of nectar, in the early hours of the morning, those who have not fallen into the sleep of attachment, thinee prabh paaeiaa. They have found, paaeiaa, their prabh, their Lord God Waheguru. Sabadhae houmai maaree, through The Guru's shabads, through The Guru's words, through The Guru's Gurmantra - Waheguru, they have maaree, they have destroyed, they have conquered their ego, their houmai.

Girehee mehi sadhaa har jan oudhaasee giaan thath beechaaree ||
They may be living in girehee, in family life, but they are still oudhaasee. Those humble beings of The Lord, those har jan are still living in the family, yet not completely attached. Giaan thath beechaaree, they always keep contemplating the thath, the essence of giaan, of spiritual knowledge. Every day they read Guru Amar Das Jee's words - Eae man piaariaa thoo sadhaa sach samaalae I Eaehu kuttanb thoo j dhaekhadhaa chalai naahee thaerai naalae I Guru Sahib jee says eaehu kuttanb thoo j dhaekhadhaa, this family that you see, chalai naahee thaerai naalae, it will not go with you. They get up every day and they read Sukhmani - jeh math pithaa suth meeth n bhaaee I Man oohaa naam thaerai sang sehaaee I When no one will be with you O mind, when your mother, father brothers and sisters, when no one will be with you, God's Name will be there. Through The guru's words, they remain awake.

Sathigur saev sadhaa sukh paaeiaa har raakhiaa our dhhaaree ||2||
Serving The True Guru they have found sadhaa such, eternal peace. In their our, in their heart, they have raakhiaa, they have embedded Hari, dhhaaree, embedded in their heart at all times. How do they do this? With their tongue always remembering Waheguru, their hands performing The Guru's service, good deeds, their ears listening to The Guru's words, their eyes looking upon The Guru's path.

Eihu manooaa dheh dhis dhhaavadhaa dhoojai bhaae khuaaeiaa ||
This manooaa, this mind, dhhaavadhaa, it wonders in all directions, in all ten directions. Why? Because it's being khuaaeiaa, it's being ruined by dhoojai bhaae, by the love of duality, by the love of this illusion of the world.

Manamukh mugadhh har naam n chaethai birathhaa janam gavaaeiaa ||
Manamukh - those who have made their mind mukh, the centre of their life, and have forgotten The Guru's words, mugadhh, they are foolish. Har naam n chaethai, they never remember The Name of God. Birathhaa janam gavaaeiaa, their lives are wasted Guru Sahib Jee says.

Sathigur bhaettae thaa naao paaeae houmai mohu chukaaeiaa ||3||
Sathigur bhaettae, if they find the Sathigur, The eternal Guru thaa naao paaeae, then they find The Name of God. Houmai mohu chukaaeiaa, what does The Name of God do? By meditating upon The Name of God, houmai - ego, and moh - attachment chukaaeiaa - are removed.

Har jan saachae saach kamaavehi gur kai sabadh veechaaree ||
Those har jan, those humble servants of The Lord are saachae, are true and become eternal. Why? Because saach kamaavehi, they kamaavehi, with their hands they commit deeds, actions of truth, so they become truthful themselves. Because gur kai shabadh veechaaree, they always contemplate upon The Guru's shabad, The Guru's words, The Guru's Bani.

Aapae mael leae prabh saachai saach rakhiaa our dhhaaree ||
Waheguru Jee aapae - Himself, mael laea - unites them with Himself, prabh saachai - That eternal Lord Waheguru rakhiaa our dhhaaree. Why is this? Because in their heart, in their our, they have rakhiaa, enshrined and contained the sach, the truth at all times.
