Satgur Guru Raam Daas Ji Maharaj is blessing us today with the shabad in Vadhans Raag. Satgur Ji begins the shabad with:

har satgur har satgur mayl har satgur charan ham bhaa-i-aa raam
har satgur har satgur mayl , har satgur, hariwho nourishes all, hari who destroys all, hari who can remove all of my paap, all of my sins and hari who helps and makes my inside, my spiritual body blossom forth. har satgur har satgur mayl Please unite me with the satgur, with the eternal Guru, who is form of the formless God upon this earth. har satgur charan ham bhaa-i-aa raamMaharaj Sahib Ji Guru Raam Daas Ji is talking of that point when our mind is begging for the charan, lotus feet of the Guru, that state of the being har satgur charan ham bhaa-i-aa raam. The charan or the lotus feet of the Guru, what are they? In Jaap Sahib Guru Gobind Singh Ji tells us chit charan naam that the naam, mantar of the Guru, the Guru's shabad, the Guru's immortal words are the Guru's lotus feet. har satgur charan ham bhaa-i-aa, bhaa-i-aa means to be accepted by my mind, my mind calls out for them. My mind is in love with them.

timar agi-aan gavaa-i-aa gur gi-aan anjan gur paa-i-aa raam.
timar agi-aan gavaa-i-aa, timar agi-aan The darkness of spiritual ignorance gavaa-i-aa is removed. gur gi-aan anjan gur paa-i-aa raam The blindness of spiritual ignorance is removed with gur gi-aan, with the Guru's gi-aan, with the Guru's wisdom. gur gi-aan also means the highest wisdom, the highest wisdom of barahm gi-aan, of complete consciousness of the God which is found by the Guru. When the Guru put the anjan, put the ointment, put the crème, put the ointment. Let's say, anjan literally talks and means a black ointment which is applied to the eyes. And when the Guru applies this ointment to my eyes of the highest wisdom, of spiritual wisdom, gur paa-i-aa raam then all of the darkness inside was taken away.

gur gi-aan anjan satguroo paa-i-aa agi-aan anDhayr binaasay.
gur gi-aan anjan satguroo paa-i-aa the true Guru put this anjan, this ointment of complete consciousness of the Lord into my eyes. agi-aan anDhayr binaasay the anDhayr blinding darkness of agi-aan spiritual ignorance was taken away.

satgur sayv param pad paa-i-aa har japi-aa saas giraasay
satgur sayv param pad paa-i-aa and when that ignorance was taken away, through performing sayvaa, selfless service of the true Guru, giving my mind, body and soul to the Guru, param pad paa-i-aa those people have paa-i-aa, received, param pad the highest state of living, of being. Complete consciousness, complete union with the Akaal Purakh. har japi-aa saas giraasay How do they find this, by japi-aa, by meditating upon Akaal Purakh, saas giraasay with every breath coming in and out.

jin kaN-u har parabh kirpaa Dhaaree tay satgur sayvaa laa-i-aa.
Those who have been blessed with the kirpaa of the Hari, of Waheguru, of our Lord God tay satgur sayvaa laa-i-aa they are laa-i-aa attached in the sayvaa, they are attached into the service and love of the true Guru.

har satgur har satgur mayl har satgur charan ham bhaa-i-aa. ||1||
Please unite me with the Hari, with the Lord God, with the Satguru, the eternal Guru. har satgur charan ham bhaa-i-aa My mind is enraptured, is in love with the charan, the lotus feet of the Guru.

mayraa satgur mayraa satgur pi-aaraa mai gur bin rahan na jaa-ee raam
mayraa satgur mayraa satgur pi-aaraa, my beloved Satguru, mai gur bin rahan na jaa-ee raam I cannot rahan remain, live without my Guru. What does this mean? gur bin rahan na jaa-ee I cannot remain alive without the Guru. I realize the true life, true spiritual life is found by surrendering my mind, body and soul to the Guru.

har naamo har naam dayvai mayraa ant sakhaa-ee raam.
har naamo har naam dayvai because the Guru has blessed dayvaime, with the naam name of the Hari, Lord; ant sakhaa-ee raam then in the end when no one is going to help, sakhaa-ee my companion will be the naam. ant means end of all. It is not talking about end of your life, ant means in the end when no one else can help you, in this life or after this life only the name of the God will be able to help you.

har har naam mayraa ant sakhaa-ee gur satgur naam drirh-aa-i-aa.
har har naam mayraa ant sakhaa-ee The name of Waheguru, the name of the Lord will remain with me forever. gur satgur naam drirh-aa-i-aa and the true Guru has drirh-aa-i-aa, has planted this naam within me, has sown the seed of spiritual love, for the name of the Lord inside me.

jithai put kalatar ko-ee baylee naahee tithai har har naam chhadaa-i-aa.
jithai put kalatar ko-ee baylee naahee Where put sons, kalatar rest of the family, ko-ee anyone else, baylee cannot be my friends, no one can be my companion to save me; tithai har har naam chhadaa-i-aa in that deep, dark space only the name of the God chhadaa-i-aa can liberate me.

Dhan Dhan satgur purakh niranjan jit mil har naam Dhi-aa-ee.
Dhan Dhan satgur purakh niranjan Blessed, blessed is the Satguru, the true Guru, that Purakh, that being who is niranjan, who is not stained by the stains of the world, by the filth of the world, that Waheguru, that Satguru, that Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj who is beyond the filth of this world, completely immaculate, completely pure and cleanses me also. jit mil har naam Dhi-aa-ee Meeting Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji I have Dhi-aa-ee meditated upon Hari, the name of the Lord.

mayraa satgur mayraa satgur pi-aaraa mai gur bin rahan na jaa-ee. ||2||
My beloved, my beloved Satguru I cannot rahan live without you and I realize there is no spiritual life without the Guru.

jinee darsan jinee darsan satgur purakh na paa-i-aa raam.
Satguru Guru Raam Daas Ji Maharaj talks about those who have not have the darshan. jinee darshan those people who have not had the darshan, have not met with, and have not sat done and been united with. satgur purakh na paa-i-aa With that being, the eternal Guru.

tin nihfal tin nihfal janam sabh baritha gavaa-i-aa raam
tin nihfal tin nihfal janam There life just passes away, tin nehfal, nehfal means producing no fruit, literally useless. Producing no fruit of gi-aan, spiritual knowledge, producing no fruit of praym or love. sabh baritha gavaa-i-aa raam Their whole is wasting away.

nihfal janam tin baritha gavaa-i-aa tay saakat mu-ay mar jhooray
Their life just passes away nihfal, without producing any fruit,baritha wasted away,tay saakat mu-ay mar jhooray They live their lives without facing the Guru, saakat mu-ay and when they die they regret that they wasted their lives.

ghar hodai ratan padaarath bhookhay bhaagheen har dooray.
Satguru Raam Daas Ji says inside you there is ratan padaarath, padaarath means the treasure, ratan means the diamonds and the jewels. There is a treasure of diamonds and jewels inside you ghar, within you but you are still bhookhay, still hungry. You still cannot find them, that diamond of God is within you but you still say I have got nothing. bhaagheen har dooray Due to their unfortunate bhaag their destiny, har dooray they believe that Waheguru ji is far away but Waheguru Ji is closer than your hands and feet Bhagat Ravidaas Ji says. keh ravidaas haath peh nayrHay God is closer to me than my hands and feet.

har har tin kaa daras na karee-ahu jinee har har naam na Dhi-aa-i-aa.
Satguru Ji, Whaeguru Ji, Hari Ji, please bless me that I do not have daras, I do not meet with those people jinee har har naam na Dhi-aa-i-aa who have not meditated upon your name. Maharaj Ji is doing Ardaas to keep me away from their sangat, from their bad company;

jinee darsan jinee darsan satgur purakh na paa-i-aa. ||3||
Those people who have not had the darsan, have not met with the true Guru, the eternal Guru;

ham chaatrik ham chaatrik deen har paas baynantee raam.
ham chaatrik ham chaatrik deen Guru Raam Daas Ji says I am like a chaatrik. chaatrik is a bird which cries out for the rain. Satgur Raam Daas Ji says the raindrop is the naam and the Guru is the cloud and I am calling out for that raindrop of the naam. har paas baynantee raam In the tree of the Lord I offer this prayer.

gur mil gur mayl mayraa pi-aaraa ham satgur karah bhagtee raam.
gur mil gur mayl mayraa pi-aaraa Please unite me with the Guru, mayraa pi-aaraa, my beloved Guru, who can unite me with the Lord. ham satgur karah bhagtee raam The eternal Guru will attach me to the Lord, in the bhagtee, devotion of the name of the Lord.

har har satgur karah bhagtee jaaN har parabh kirpaa Dhaaray
When I am blessed with the grace of Hari, of Waheguru, of the Lord God then I am attached to the devotion, bhagtee of Satguru, the eternal Guru.

mai gur bin avar na ko-ee baylee gur satgur paraan hamHaaray.
I have no other friend,avar na ko-ee baylee than the Guru; gur satgur paraan hamHaaray Guru is my paraan, my life source. Why, because Guru has taken me out of this living death of spiritual ignorance and given me the true spiritual life.

kaho naanak gur naam darirhHaa-i-aa har har naam har satee
Satgur Raam Daas Ji says that the true Guru has darirhaa-i-aa, has implanted in me, has sown the seed of that naam which is the only truth of this world, the name of the God, which is the eternal treasure.

ham chaatrik ham chaatrik deen har paas baynantee. ||4||3||
ham chaatrik ham chaatrik deen I am a lowly, deen, meek, humble rain bird crying out for that eternal drop of the immortal nectar of the Lord's name. har paas baynantee And Satguru Raam Daas Ji in these last words offers his prayer in the feet of God.

kaho naanak gur naam darirhHaa-i-aa har har naam har satee ||
ham chaatrik ham chaatrik deen har paas baynantee ||

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa ! Waheguru ji ki Fateh !
