Waheguru

Wjkk, wjkf.

I just wanted to ask a quick question as I have been asked this on many occasions and I'm not really sure what to reply. Te question I'm asked is:

Even though Waheguru is neither male or female, why is Waheguru referred to as 'He' in Gurbani?

There are many places in SGGS where Waheguru is addressed as mother. For example:

ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਤਾ ॥
You are my Father, and You are my Mother.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੰਧਪੁ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਾ ॥
You are my Relative, and You are my Brother. (SGGS 103)

It is because our soul is female and we are to marry God who is to be our husband. It is establishment of husband wife relationship. Also, normally, woman marries and goes to husband's home which is considered our actual home with husband. Therefore, God is masculine in Gurbani while soul is feminine.

I always took " father and mother" said together to mean parent i.e. Both. Therefore no gender. I thought concept of soul bride is evoked only in anand Karaj.
