Complex brain problem due to turban

Post by singharp57 »

Sat sri akal

My name is harpreet singh. I have been experiencing a complex problem. My problem started in 2009 when i was in second year of graduation. The capability of my brain got reduced drastically. I couldn't analyze fast, memory problem, recalling problem etc. etc. Initially i couldn't understand if it is any problem though i was facing symptoms. I thought i don't want to do this particular graduation so my mind behaving like this. I failed miserably. Otherwise i was among the toppers in school & was a bright student. After graduation i started prepaeing dor competitive exams to enter bureaucracy. I hoped of not facing problems. Surprisingly i was facing same problem even then.. i realised it was some medical problem. I went to doctors. A psychiatrist sais it was some form of depression though my symptoms was different. As doctor was from a reputed hospital so i believed him but even after having different types of medicine for a year there was no improvement in symptoms. so i left as it was wrongly diagnosed. After a year i started showering my head daily with cold water even in winters in 2014. Surprisingly my problem got reduced by 50%. but no improvement further. This year i realised when i untie my turban for 4-5 hrs there is reduction in symptoms. But when i tie again symptoms comes back. More intense symptoms with pagg or dumalla. So i tie simple keski still symptoms are there. i have been experiencing this since january this year that when i untie dastar for atleast 3-4 hrs then i feel normal. I can study well... But with dastar same symptoms. Actually i m from non sikh family & staryed tying turban in 2009 itself. My problem started after 1.5-2 months od dastar tying. By going through all these experiences i have feeling that i face problem when i tie dastar even 2 of meters. When i keep my kesh open then no problem. I also checked with a doctor recently telling him this. He saus there can be 2 reasons. Either some nerve get pressed or there is some temperature difference between head & body.

This problem has destroyed my career. What should i do now ?

I have 2 options now. One is continue with this problem for life long. But i might go in depression later on bcoz of not having career or skills. Other option is stop tying turban & cut hair so that i can relieved from this problem

Any updates harpreet singh? I really doubt that this is nerve problem, and especially the temperature difference thing makes absolutely no sense why it would affect the functioning of your mind itself. Maybe it is just tight and then you had trouble concentrating because you weren't used to having your hair up, some people experience headaches when they are just starting to tie their turban for example but after a while it goes away when the body adjusts. I think there should be a different way of tying the dastar such that you don't have this pain, did you talk to someone who ties a dastar about it? they might be able to show you a different way. I dont think you have to give up your kes to solve this issue. Certainly there is a possibility that it was anxiety/depression but atypical, and just didnt get better with medications. Have you purused reading Gurbani or anything like that to work on the anxiety/depression part? I'm glad you saw the dr to make sure it wasnt something dangerous at least, that can give you peace of mind. Now its a matter of figuring out how to manage.

SSA ji,

Is someone have any suggestion treatment wise.. @Harpreet singh ji you have explained your problems really well.. i also suffer with this problem, as far as my research, it is quite rare, but if i have got it.. or anyone else got it.. its still under Waheguru’s hukum, after reading some other articles i would say.. it could also be a mixture of sensitive compression headache + tension headache (here tension means nothing to do with stress tension) along with mixture of migraine, but my symptoms are more like to Harpreet Singh ji, even a very light dastar or even slight tight juda front or back effects my overall mood, up here doctors does not have much to say apart from offering anti depression sort of tablets (sorry forgot the name) it has much more side effects plus it was not applicable/relevant, then they tried giving me strong pain killers, similar to ibuprofen & paracetamol, which is not the solution, if i ask anyone in community most of the time ppl come up with their own conclusion/judgement and thinks it is just an excuse to not wear turban, rather than trying to understand or taking this seriously. We all know some turban headache is common in many singh’s but didn’t know it could be unbearable for certain individuals like me.. wearing any thing on my head makes me feel more sleepy, lack of concentration/focus, pain on top of my eyes etc etc. I have tried home remedies like massaging head more often etc. if someone has come across or have any genuine suggestion then please get in touch at [email protected]. Thank you & Regards G Singh

We all know some turban headache is common in many singh’s & Kaur’s but didn’t know it could be unbearable for certain individuals like me.. wearing any thing on my head makes me feel more sleepy/tired, slow, lack of concentration/focus, pain on top of my eyes etc etc. I have tried home remedies like massaging head more often etc.

bottom line advice from my GP (doctor) is to avoid the trigger completely (or as much as you can) hence i only cover my head when i am inside guru ghar/ doing sangat or on special occasion. if someone has come across or have any genuine medical suggestion or could refer/advised from medial specialist then please get in touch at [email protected]. Thank you & Regards G Singh
