SAD delimna to support of not to support Sikh PM

Post by vikramjit gurufateh singh »

Saad Sangath Ji,

Fateh

Political scene in India is very heated up. Communists have withdrawn their support to the UPA Government. Now technically the UPA Government is in a minority and will have to undertake a test of strength on the floor of the House.

UPA is looking for support and as Akali Dal has 8 MPs UPA is trying to create a hype that Akali Dal should support a Sikh PM.

http://www.tribuneindia.com/2008/20080709/main2.htm

In my opinion Manmohan Singh has not stuck his neck out for Sikhism, so I don't think Akali Dal should support the Manmohan Singh Government just because it has a Sikh at its helm.

All the best

Saad Sangath Ji,

Fateh

I feel Manmohan Singh could have taken on the French Government more aggressively on the Turban ban in schools in France.

Even on the Sacha Sauda matter Manmohan Singh kept a distance.

Now when he needs numbers why should Akali Dal bail him out? They can do so if they are pro the Nuclear Deal but not because he’s a Sikh PM.

Fateh

When the Presidential elections were held Shiv Sena broke ranks with NDA and voted in favor of the Congress candidate as she was a Maharashtrian.

Akali Dal would not like to vote against a Sikh PM and be partly responsible for bringing down a Government led by a Sikh.
Hence, if there is a chance of UPA falling short of numbers, Akali Dal's 8 MPs will come to the rescue.

I feel this Sikh PM did not do anything for Sikhs or Sikhism. But despite this Akalis will not risk going down in history as being partly responsible for bringing down a Government led by a Sikh.

no doubt Dr. Manmohan Singh is a good human being, one of the very few non-corrupt politicians, but he is more devoted to his duties to the country than to the religion.
being on supreme power of the country, he could have changed many things related to sikh religion...agian if he would have that thoughts sonia gandhi would have never recommended his name as PM.... after all she is from family of nehru, indira, rajiv gandhi......sad

sat sri akal gurfateh ji,

It is very nice that you brought up this topic and I am happy with it.

I was looking for an answer to the question whether Akalis should support Dr. Manmohan Singh. I got the answer in your own post, where you rightly said that Shiv Sena supported a Maharashtrian Congress nominee for the post of Indian President though its alliance partners were against it.

Now, Akalis are from the same alliance and they should also break away and give support to Manmohan Singh. I am not sure what repurcussions this move may have in future but its better if they do it because all politicians are dirty which may not be true for Manmohan SIngh.

Yes it is said that he did not supported sikhs where help was needed .....

Saad Sangath Ji,

Fateh

The hallmark of Indian Politics and Bureaucracy is that both are heartless. Seems there's something in the chairs that they sit on that makes them heartless. Manmohan Singh is no different.

SAD will support if it comes to a crunch vote. But in hearts we all know that he's not done anything for his Faith. Well I would not have had any problems if he had kept equidistant from all religions, but that is not the case. His Government has bent backwards for Muslims and literally gone overboard giving them sops left and right. I feel Sonia is not anti Sikh like her Mother in law and Husband and I'm sure if Manmohan Singh had tried to push for certain pro Sikh and Punjab measures she would not have denied him these.

SAD may support him but he does not deserve Sikh support.

All the best

gurfateh ji,

I think that you are right, he could have done more for punjab and also sikh issues. like lot more educational institutes. but if hindus are being neglected in their homeland in preference to muslims...i doubt sikhs stand a chance here.
