Why is the Golden Temple made out of gold?

Hello, I'm very interested in learning about Sikhism. I am in no way, shape, or form trying to degrade Sikhism or the Golden Temple. I apologize if the following question comes off as rude. I just want to learn.

My question is this: Why is the Golden Temple made out of gold? Wouldn't it have been better if the gold was given to poor people or traded to poor people instead?

Thank you.

Waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh.

No, it that would be waiting it.
as Carlos Miranda Levy said Never Help: engage, enable, empower and connect.
Sikhs try to never do something for someone that they couldn't do themselves, as that just encourages them to be unthankful and lazy.

Even the langar isn't about giving free food but to form connections to the Sikh community. The family that eats together, stays together. and all that.
