Learn all you can about Sikhism (read sakhis) then read SGGS and understand the meaning. This may be a bit daunting at the start so to begin with learn a shabad at a time. E.g in your next visit to the gurdwara, write down what shabad the ragis are singing and when you get home (or even on you mobile these days) search for the translation (sikhitothemax.com) and mp3 (sikhsangeet.com) download to listen to it again but now with understanding of what is said, then follow these instructions. Sometimes you cannot find the shabad in theses places but keep trying with other shabads until you do find them. The key is to do this every week until you feel satisfied and then all you will want to do is naam jap and nitnem and these will bring you to God.tegpaul wrote:how do you look for god?

Re: god??
what if there is no god?
• This is an individual question I think. Some people are okay with living without faith. It is normal to have this question in your mind but your path to finding the answer will probably be an individual one.
what make sikhism the ideal way to become one with the god.
• I don’t think there is an ideal or best way. Sikhism teaches us that whatever religion we do belong to we should practice that with devotion. We are not superior to others.
how do you look for god?
• The answer to this question is in gurbani, the more you read the more you will understand. God is in all of us, around us- this is all His creation. But He also exists in His formless form. To connect to God, if you are not able to read gurbani and read about the path yourself, you can do simran (reciting Waheguru out loud). Essentially, simran is a way of stopping the thoughts from going all over and focusing on God. It takes time to stop those thoughts, but it happens. I have met many people who have met God through simran. For more information visit mysimran.info, all the lectures on that website (and their youtube page) are in English.
