Re: Sikhism Today! - will we survive??? (UNMODERATED)
Dear Sadh Sangat Ji ! I write this post (not knowing if it would get past our moderators) to get the inputs over some of the queries I have. I have seen sikhism over last few decades and the way it has evolved. There were days when sikhs were respected and honoured. Then the 'sab toh wada ghalughar...

Re: who thinks SGPC should be doing more?
All these GPC's have outlived their usefulness and have merely become instruments of Punjabi control over the future of Sikhism.

Re: Is tolerance of intolerance really tolerance, or is it .
Maybe the family doesn't like him talking about Sikhi, so fine don't talk about it. AM Sat Sri Akaal AM, Maybe you should explain how that is wise. You are simply giving the Christian part (which due to the dubious conversion of his daughter, is all of that family, effectively ending any prospect o...

Imperfect, Glad to hear that you want your kids to challenge you. But that said, kids aren't simply machines. Your cousin's kids aren't simply going to reflect their upbringing - they're also going to have their upbringing challenged. From the sound of it, they're young and haven't gotten to a poin...

Re: KHALSALAND--- *The wonder land*
Sorry to say this, but this sounds more like la-la land. First, the future of Sikhi lies in the West, and not in India. Most Indian Sikhs (even the turbaned kind) do not practise any sort of Sikhism discernible from a reading of the scripture or the rehat. Most drink, believe in caste system, abuse ...

Re: Is tolerance of intolerance really tolerance, or is it .
ImperfectSikh, One of two things seem to be going on here - either A.) his daughter also believes in what she's hearing at church or B.) she's simply allowing the husband and his family to effectively control the spiritual life of her children as a condition of the marriage. If she genuinely believ...

Re: are services at Gurudwara ever performed in english
Sat Sri Akaal hernandres, Welcome. This is not an answer specific to your question, but it is my opinion that the resistance within the Sikh community, which is Punjabi dominated and greatly centered on India, towards accepting services performed in English to be legitimate, is a serious roadblock t...

Re: English rules tightened for immigrant partners
I do not think that the issue here is about separating people.
Marriage confers citizenship / residency (depending upon the local laws). If you live in an English speaking country, you should learn to speak English before you live there.
Its a matter of common sense.

Re: 41 Advices for Sikh Husband's
41 Advices for Sikh Husband's 1. Respect the opinion of your wife and show you are listening and value her suggestions. 2. Don’t be moody. Your tone and attitude matter sometimes more than the words. 3. Smile. You don’t need a reason, just smile. 4. Avoid anger and avoid speaking roughly or rudely....

Re: Is tolerance of intolerance really tolerance, or is it .
I am so sorry to hear about this situation, but I do know a little about different religious beliefs. I was raised Catholic, and I was taught the same thing, if people didn't believe in Jesus, they would not be saved. I believed this until I was about 14, then I began to question. How can a God so ...
