Re: Interreligious marriage for Gursikh allowed?
Surly WaheGuru's blessing will pervade deeper in a marriage of true love & partnership with a couple coming from different religious backgrounds than a couple of the same religious background lacking a real heart connection and unity. No doubt, if the couple genuinely respect each other's religion....

Re: My Life in Ruins
Sat Sri Akaal, I hope that with prayer and willpower, you will find a way to deal with this. This is one of the reasons I think that arranged marriages are so inappropriate. While the laws here are definitely slanted against men, the best way to guard yourself against a situation of this kind is to ...

Re: Is tolerance of intolerance really tolerance, or is it .
ImperfectSihk ji, Heh heh it is clear then that we disagree. That is fine. Most decidedly. You ask: 'Would you befriend and otherwise assist a friend whose religious choices you respected, and yet who had nothing but contempt and slander against your own ? If not, then why accept that kind of behav...

Re: Why sikh females prefer non-sikh males?
Why must only a sikh woman be picked on when sikh men equally marry out of religion? I have seen a number of posts and topics on this forum constantly stating "why sikh women marry out of religion?" Why this sexism? I know many sikh men who have married white, Spanish, hindu, muslim and even black ...

Re: Is tolerance of intolerance really tolerance, or is it .
As for your cousin, Imperfect sikh, i think she is disgraceful. That may sound harsh, but i am going to say it like i see it. She married someone of a different religion, ok fine, it happens, but then to convert and let her children believe that such narrowmindedness is ok???? Give me a break. She ...

Re: Is tolerance of intolerance really tolerance, or is it .
Sat Sri Akaal Lee, Self-respect is not a tool of ego. It is a tool of respect for the Universe, which must include yourself since you are a part of it. The Gurus, and many Sikhs after the time of the Gurus in human form, fought many wars against Mughals, the British, and others at times. Sometimes (...

Re: JOKES ON SARDARS
I was raised in Punjab, and until I went to college, never had lived outside Punjab. So, I was pretty shocked when I discovered that Sikhs were the butt of jokes among the (mainly) Hindu people of India. By the way, since I have also lived in south India at times, the jokes are far less common there...

Re: Why sikh females prefer non-sikh males?
Bearded and turbaned Sikh males are not considered "fashionable" enough for most Indian Sikh women. I am in a relationship with a non-Indian woman, and she has never complained about my saroop (in fact, she says that it is what attracted her to me initially). I think you will find it (in case your q...

Re: Gold walls for Bangla Sahib Gurdwara
This news makes me feel ashamed. Sikhi is dying out in India, and all these jokers can come up with is an ostentatious display of vulgar wealth ? I mean, where are these people's priorities ? All that money could have gone towards funding scholarships for Gursikh students who could in turn be asked ...

Re: Interreligious marriage for Gursikh allowed?
It is my experience that most Sikh Indian girls in the West at least flirt with the idea of marrying outside the faith for various reasons. Perhaps they think that Sikh Indian men cannot be fashionable enough for them. That said, setting aside all rules and rehats, the basic definition of marriage i...
