Re: Doubts
Ishleen, You are on the right track. Do not worry about the timing or the type/extent of washing before reciting gurbani. Any time you can find to remember Waheguru is a good time. Guru ji does not want us to get in debates about "auspicious" times for prayers. ਜੇ ਵੇਲਾ ਵਖਤੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੀਐ ਤਾ ਕਿਤੁ ਵੇਲਾ ਭਗਤਿ...

Re: Waheguru
There are many places in SGGS where Waheguru is addressed as mother. For example:
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਤਾ ॥
You are my Father, and You are my Mother.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੰਧਪੁ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਾ ॥
You are my Relative, and You are my Brother. (SGGS 103)

You are my Father, and You are my Mother.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੰਧਪੁ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਾ ॥
You are my Relative, and You are my Brother. (SGGS 103)

Re: Corona virus pandemic and anand karaj
First of all, congratulations for your upcoming wedding. Anand and Lavan is a commitment by you to strive for a union between your soul and God. Merging your life/soul with your spouse' life/soul is the first small step (first lesson) towards merging with God who is everywhere and in everybody. No a...

Re: Advice for re-starting the path of Sikhi
How do you infer that God has created this game and create Maya to perpetuate the illusion? I have been trying to find this but not able to, so, very much looking forward to your answer. References with page and line number will be helpful. Its mentioned in several places in SGGS, I have listed a f...

Re: Waheguru Simran & Amrit Vela
Sikhi is more about unlearning than learning. We have built our ego and behavior over a very long period, and removing ego is a painful unlearning process. Let me share my own experience. For years, I recited Nitnem, and then I decided to read SGGS from beginning to end a few pages each day – a prac...

Re: Advice for re-starting the path of Sikhi
According to Sikhi, there is nobody else but God. God has created a game (an illusion) for himself to make his own parts (all of us) perceive that they are separate beings. God has created Maya to perpetuate the illusion and has assigned the Guru to guide us to overcome the illusion. The objective o...

Re: Being better gursikh
Sikh has to pass through three stages: 1. Detachment 2. Reattachment 3. End of Detachment and Reattachment The above may appear contradictory but in Gurbani it’s a consistent path moving in the same direction towards God. In the beginning we are in the grips of maya, and our attachments are driven b...

Re: Clothing Debate?
Anmol2004, Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji Fateh. Sikhi does not ask us to shun maya but rather to shun attachment of maya. Your clothes are OK as long as you don't do anything unethical to get them, or become resentful if you don't get them, or think you are better than others once you get them....

Re: I'm wondering if me not growing my hair is bad after dea
RSC2002, Sikhism is different than some of the other faiths, wherein we find salvation and meet God not after death but while we are alive. We do so by learning and following Gurbani. We start by meeting the external Guru (Gurbani). The external Guru in his infinite mercy unites us with the Guru tha...
