Re: can anyone do japji sahib path 84 times in goindwal sahi

I'm sorry. What is this 84 times or recitations ?? Who say's this is valid?? isn't this somekind of ritual like the ones Guru Nanak advised against ?? Yes that's what it feels like when you listen to it. After all there is just an underground well or Baoli which has 84 steps leading to it! Isn't it...

Re: Conversion from no religion to Sikhi

What I can say from my experience (as my mom brought me up!) is start doing the following things: - Do or listen to Paath (prayer) of Japuji Sahib (before sunrise) (videos with translation are readily available) - I have kept uncut hair since I was born, that is also an important but hard first step...

I think there should have been a general Indian Marriage act. Muslims have different provisions for marriage and divorce. We Sikhs don't need any special ...

Ashton Kutcher Ad

People have found Ashton's portrayal of a Bollywood film producer as 'offensive'. Aren't these the same people who have been doing lame portrayal of the Sikhs for years? Showing them as a goofy, funny and totally unreal characters, stereotyped beyond death? And of course ignoring the protest! Dear B...

Re: Covering my head

Two generations before, all Sikh ladies used to keep head covered. The current Maryada looks like relaxing the criteria for women. But Rehat Maryada is same for all Sikhs of any age or gender. Sikhi is a way of living, it is not dependent on the space and time consoritum. If you like covering your h...

Re: Amrit Shak (Sanchar)

I think you should first do the 5 Baanis in morning, Rehras Sahib and Kirtan Sohila regularly. When you are ready, then take Amrit Sanchar. TIll then also spend time with Amritdhari Sikhs and learn their lifestyle.
