Re: is software profession is noble ?

I also disagree with Bundha. By his logic, a person who has developed a software to help manage a school, a fundraiser, a charity must obviously not hold a job that is "noble" as per his standards. Whatever knowledge a person may possess and using that knowledge contributes to helping society in a h...

Re: Kirpan

Sabra ji The 'Kirpan' we as baptised sikh wear these days is not the original 'Kirpan' as the baptised sikhs adored during the seventeenth or early part of nineteenth century. This used to be a proper Kirpan or sword, two and a half to three feet in length. In 1845 when the army of sikh kingdom in ...

Re: Hemkunt

e) Sould SGPC, Babas, sikh missionaries not make all outeffort to guide the sikhs that these places have no sanctity in sikh religion. When Guru staying close by never attempts to go there and after four centuries some body has a dream, and a place of pilgrimage is discovered - is the situation not...

Re: What is Naam, Jaap?

Amrit s It seems you follow a pattern of dodging for months and then suddenly reply to a post that was written months back. Sorry, I am a university student and I do have my priorities set. Surfing on the Sikhnet forums is the least of my priorities. I have given you two references about five banis...

Re: What is Naam, Jaap?

You wrote that five banis that are listed in sikh rehat maryada for Amrit sanchar were not read by Guru sahib in 1699 for first amrit sanchar. You were asked to provide reference for that. You want me to provide historical references for something that never happened? You have no reference for that...

Re: Usage of Swaragvasi

However, Gurbani speaks of Swarag and Narak and Satch Khand and many khands. So these are not metaphores, Bhagat Kabir Ji speaks of the messenger of death coming to get you and takes you away while beating you. They are in fact metaphors. For example the Guru says: ਪਉੜੀ ॥ Pauree: ਆਪੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਭੋਗ ਭੋਗਿ...

Re: What is Naam, Jaap?

Can you provide a historical reference wherein it is stated that five banis were not read in 1699? That is the point to create confusion by a few about procedure of present day amrit sanchar. Can you provide historical evidence that they were? There is about 300 years difference between 1699 and no...

Re: What is Naam, Jaap?

As written earlier, when we say khalsa it applies specifically to khalsa created by Guru Gobind singh ji. WE are not talking about khalsa mentioned by Bhagat kabir You failed to recognize the fact that the Khalsa officially established by Guru Gobind Singh ji was no different from the Khalsa starte...
