The experience of kirtan is indescribable. I've had experiences listening to Namdharis doing stringed instruments with kirtan and going to AKJ samagams, and for some reason it was very powerful. I've experienced kirtan at a Dasam Granth Darbar where the sangat was moved to do several jaikaras afterwards. We just felt that the Guru was there. It's strange because the Guru is at every kirtan, but sometimes we really feel it. The feeling I had doing the kirtan seemed to have been shared with the whole sangat. I think this only happens rarely, so I try to visualize being in Guru's darbar in the 15th century, and this helps. I can't describe this experience. There is nothing to compare it with to empathize with other people.
