The Boy Who Cried Wolf
Hello children, today we are telling the story of the Boy who cried Wolf. It is a very important story, everyone must know and listen to this story. It takes places in a little town, in a village, in the old western frontier. Everyone in the village was very busily going about their duties and their work. And one bacha, one boy, was given the duty to take care of the sheep.
The village said, "ok kiddo, you need to make sure none of these sheep get lost in the woods. They can graze and eat their grass throughout the day, and make sure there's no threat to them. If a wolf comes by you have to yell and we'll all come and protect you and scare the wolf away and we'll save the sheep and we'll save you, just make sure you and all the sheep are safe. You understand?" And the boy replied, "Yeah, no problem. That's easy!"
And so the villagers went about their work; chopping the wood, tending to the farm, making the clothes, many things they were doing. And meanwhile the boy was looking after the sheep while the sheep were grazing - eating the grass. The boy was just sitting there. He became very bored. Then he decided he was going to play a trick. He thought, "hee hee, you know what would be really funny? What if I yell "wolf! wolf!" and then everybody will think there's a wolf and they'll come running and there won't really be any wolf at all. That will be funny, haahaha!" Then the boy did that very thing, yelling, "Wolf, wolf! You guys there's a wolf! Come help me! The sheep are in danger. There's a wolf! wolf!"
They brought their weapons to scare the wolf, to protect the boy, and save the sheep. They even brought guns and swords. One villager said, "Ain't no wolf goin' to get our sheep that's for sure!" Another villager said, "where's my pot? I'll hit him with that." But when they arrived there was no wolf. Only the boy who was laughing at them. He said, "hahaha, you fell for it! There's no wolf! Look how fast you ran over here you're all scared, hahahuhha."
The villagers were very disappointed and they left to go back to their work. One said, "that boy, he tricked us! huhhh!" Another villager said, "Oh well, back to work." This happened in the morning time, and afterwards everything went back to normal.
The boy was playing with the sheep again, playing with the grass, playing many games. Many hours had passed and again he became bored. By the afternoon time he became so bored, he thought, "hey, what if I do it again what if I cry wolf wolf?! And then they'll all come again. It'll be so funny, it worked last time. I'm going to do it again, huuuhhaha." And so again he did the same thing, he cried, "wolf! wolf! No, I'm serious this time! There's an actual wolf I'm not lying. I promise, it's true it's true, I swear! I'm not lying. There's a wolf. There's a wolf! Come, help! help!"
Again the villagers ran to protect the sheep and the boy. One villager said, "That mean old wolf! We'll help protect the sheep and that boy... Wait... what? Is he's tricking us again? No no no, it's ok, Where's my pot? Lets go!" They came with all their weapons, guns, and swords. And when they arrived again they saw that there was no wolf. There was only the boy, who said, "huhhuhaha, oh my god, you fell for it again! Hahahahahah!" Again the villagers were very disappointed in the boy because he kept lying to them. They felt that he was not doing his job and that they could not trust him any more. One villager exclaimed, "my goodness, he tricked us again, uhhhh!" Another villager said, "that's the second time I ran over here to try to protect him, but he tricked me! huhhh!" "That boy, if he does it again I'll tell you what I'll do with my pot." "I'm not going to listen to him the next time he cries wolf, that's for sure!"
Again, everyone went back to work. The boy went to look for the sheep, and many hours passed. Whenit was almost time for the third meal of the day, dinner time, again the boy was getting very bored and again he thought, "I wonder if they'll fall for it a third time? huuhuhhaha! I'm going to cry wolf again..." And at that very moment he heard a terrible sound. "ruhhhh ruhh ruhhhhhh". It was a wolf. A real wolf! The wolf was hungry! The boy cried out, "wolf! wolf! there's a wolf! You guys, everybody come help! A wolf's gonna get me. A wolf's gonna get all the sheep too. Help, help there's a wolf, no it's real this time I swear! Its really real this time!"
But the villagers did not come. One villager said, "He's tricking us again. I'm not gonna go!" Another villager said, "What does he think we are, fools? We're gonna come a third time when we hear him crying wolf? huh!" "Hey boys! supper is ready." "I'm going to get some dinner." And the boy continued crying, "No, no I'm not joking this time. I was joking before. I'm not trying to trick you there's a real wolf..."
And then the wolf ate the boy. He died because everyone knew he was a liar. No one believed him when he finally told the truth. If they had trusted him, they would have come to his defense and he would not have died. But the boy thought he was being very funny playing his tricks and and because of that he died. He died because everyone knew that he was a liar.
You may have as much fun as you like, but if you lie you will loose everyone's trust. And when you loose trust, you loose everything!
