2006 Lord of Miracles in Buenos Aires, Argentina, S. America - 3.
Date: 10/19/2006
    By S.S Gurubachan Singh Khalsa

Two hours by plane directly east of Santiago Chile lays fabulous Buenos Aires Argentina. 12 million of Argentina’s 39 million live in this capital city. Buenos Aires is a jewel on the beautiful Rio de la Plata [Silver River]. The river itself looks like the ocean because you cannot see land on the other side, which is Uruguay.

“Portenos” as the residents of Buenos Aires are called a wonderful mix of the Argentine spirit, Italian immigrants and Indignous- Criollo culture. The food is as good as Italy, if not better and pizza is an immediate experience of the heavens. Tango is Argentina’s passion and it is everywhere. Shopping is the best of any country and the fashion is second to none. Needless to say we always love visiting Argentina and our beautiful Sangat there.

Met by Sat Narayan Simran Kaur and Gurubani Kaur, our group was immediately escorted to Faena Hotel in the Puerto Madeo district of Buenos Aires. This district is the renovated old wharf area on the river and it is a beautiful trendy area. Our day continued with a 1-hour radio interview at the hotel. From there we went to an evening dinner and Tango show at the Michelangelo where we were warmly received and introduced in the middle of the show to the entire audience. Returning back by midnight we were ready for a good nights sleep.

The following morning we had a breakfast meeting with the Uruguayan Sangat members and met for private consultations. Later on we went shopping and had lunch at the absolutely wonderful PIEGARI Italian restaurant, our traditional favorite. There we met Guru Jot Kaur and Sant Want Singh from Virginia who were in Buenos Aires for a conference.

That evening was the Lord of Miracles event held at the Italian Center of Buenos Aires. The evening included lecture and meditations, a gatka demonstration by Guru Dev Kaur, Guru Dharam Singh and Ram Das Singh, a beautiful talk by Bhai Sahiba Bibiji Kaur, a Gaucho Foklorico dance presentation and Bangara. It was a great evening!

The next day we all met with the Sangat from Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina a city about 4 hours from Buenos Aires. From there we went to do another interview at the radio station and Bibiji held her class and tea for the Sangat of Rosario followed by another tea and class at the hotel for all the ladies of the Sangat. It was so well attended that even people they happened to meet while shopping came to her lecture. In the evening we all went for Argentine Pizza at the famous “Imortales” restaurant.

Our last morning in Buenos Aires, we were all invited by the Archbishop of Buenos Aires to meet with their interfaith council. There we met Father Omar Dimario who directly represents the entire Eucumenical Commission of Argentina. We all discussed the work and the legacy of Yogi Bhajan and who we were. They were so impressed that they invited us in April, during our next visit to Argentina, to meet with the entire Commission, which is comprised of the Archbishop and 2 other bishops of Buenos Aires.

From there we left directly for the airport to catch our TAM flight to our fourth city, Asuncion, Paraguay where we continued our 4th Lord of Miracles Tour in Honor of Guru Ram Das…..

    To be continued...
