Almere, The Netherlands. - Universal Peace Federation is an organisation working for peace is well recognised by UNO for her peace efforts through out the world. This peace movement was founded by Dr. Sun Myung Moon is now being led by Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, the co-founder and has its headquarters in the USA and branches all over the world.

On 21-11-2007, the Dutch unit of Universal Peace Federation UPF-NL also called as the Inter-religious and International Federation for World Peace, organised a special function to honour prominent citizens of the Netherlands in the Glass House of Almere. This function had also the approval and co-operation of the Town Hall of Almere. It should be noted that Mrs. Annemarie Jorritsma, now Mayor of Almere since 2003 was formerly Minister of Economics Affairs, National Highways and Water System and also vice Minister President of the Netherlands, are also Ambassadors For Peace.

Six prominent citizens of the Netherlands were honoured and declared” Ambassador For Peace” due to their outstanding services to world peace, mankind, humanity, protection of human rights, religious unity and human values.

Mrs. Nanette de Jong – Chairman Relizaap, working with different religions. Dr. Robin Rover - Ph.d on different religion, Teacher and Writer. Mr. Ver Bass – First Church Minister of Almere. Mrs. Anita Nijman - Famous designer and webmaster in the computer field of the Netherlands. Sardar Bhupinder Singh Holland – Accounting Analyst IBM Netherlands, Sikh leader-a theologian and writer of “ How Europe is Indebted to the Sikhs, Role of Sikhs in Europe in World War I and II.”
