26 Jan 2016:
The Lord Mayors charity appeal is £1,500 closer to its target thanks to a donation from the Sikh Union Club.

The money was raised by participants who took part in the annual Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Charity Walk in November, which follows a 15km route, passing various places of worship along the way.

Lord Mayor of Coventry, Coun Michael Hammon, officially started the ten mile walk, which started and finished at Guru Nanak Prakash Gurdwara Temple in Harnall Lane East.

The walk, now in its 30th year, aims to raise much-needed funds for various charities and the Sikh Union’s overseas charity work through sponsorship and donations.

Bali Panesar from the Sikh Union, said: “We wanted to give something back to the community we live in and the Lord Mayor’s charity was the ideal choice as it’s supporting Parkinson's UK (Coventry Branch), The Rotary Club and the Holy Trinity Church Roof Restoration Fund.”
