EGU (67K)

Coming this 2016!!!

After having successfully established 129 K-12 Schools, 2 Private State Universities, Baru Sahib has taken a proactive step to go online with its latest ‘Eternal Global University’ based out of Washington DC. This progressive institution has always been at the forefront to bring in technology, engagement, excitement and cost-optimization. Its K-12 schools carry the best labs and smart-digital-classrooms; all in rural schools. The flagship school at Akal Academy Baru Sahib is the first PYP IB(International Baccalaureate) School of the Sikh community. The classs 6-12 segment is affiliated to the Cambridge University, UK.

A long-time demand of the Indian Diaspora will now be soon fulfilled by Eternal Global University (EGU), USA. EGU resolves to propagate Guru Nanak’s message of Universal Brotherhood of man, enabling, to see Him One in All and All in One towards establishing Permanent Peace in the World.

Baba Iqbal Singh, President, The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib, said “We aim to provide spiritual / academic mechanism for not only the western world but Indian students as well. It will benefit students, scholars, teachers, community leaders and ‘seekers of truth’ for the study of and to do research in the Teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. We look to provide an opportunity for pursuing comparative religious studies vis-a-vis Sri Guru Granth Sahib with a view to develop mutual understanding of other Religions Leading to Racial Harmony around the Globe.”

Dr Davinder Singh (MBBS MD), Secretary, Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib said “We are happy to announce the approval from authorities, to setup Sikh community’s first Digital Online University. We shall be providing University Setting for Higher Education and Research in Religious Studies, Spirituality and Divine Music and Languages used in Holy Scriptures. This would help to develop a cadre of Guru Nanak’s messengers of peace with universal outlook who would propagate love and compassion to humanity and provide selfless service to the needy and the less fortunate.”

Happy at the outcome, after years of preparation, Dr M.S. Atwal (M.Sc., Ph.D., MBA, M.P.H.-Health Policy, former Vice-Chancellor, Eternal University), who also heads the EGU said “We shall be developing academic / training programs for the Sikh youth towards learning punjabi, gurmat, sikh culture and sikh history. We also intend to instill in them the concept of “Value – Based” Education, leading them to be global citizens with universal outlook.”

EGU is kick-starting this year on wards with the below unique and stand-alone off-beat courses:

Certificate in Divine Music and Master of Divine Music.
Certificate in Gurdwara Administration and Master in Gurdwara Admin.
Certificate in Sikh Pastoral Care Support and Master of Pastoral Care.
Master of Sikh History and Doctor of Sikh History.
Master of Gurmat Studies and Doctor of Gurmat Studies Certificate in
Comparative Religion and Master of Theological Studies in Comp Religion.
Doctor of Divinity in Comparative Religion.
…. and many more such courses.

A couple of courses are slated to start online from July 2016 and the rest courses would follow.

It is an exciting development in the Sikh world and a lot of ethnic Indian students would benefit from these much-deprived courses that are missing from our present available curriculums. An explosion in online learning of Sikhism courses, much of it free, means that the knowledge once imparted to a selected few has now been released to anyone with a laptop. Such financial and technological disruptions coincide with a great change; whereas universities used to educate only a tiny elite, they are now responsible for training and retraining workers throughout their careers.

Sikh children across North America, Europe and India will stand to immensely benefit out of this precious resource created by The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib. Eternal Global University is an alternative to an overstretched, expensive model of higher education, and is more likely to prosper towards becoming a treasured resource of the Sikh Community.
