Inaugural Celebrations for Sikh Gurdwara, DC will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 from 10:30am to 12:30pm at 3801 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20016.

Dr. Inderjit Kaur, the President of The Pingalwara Charitable Society will be the keynote speaker for the occasion. Several prominent local government officials and leaders of interfaith houses will be congregating at the Sikh Gurdwara to celebrate the occasion with the Sikh community of Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia.

People of all faiths, race and ethnicity are invited to join the Sikh community at Sikh Gurdwara, DC to celebrate this occasion. A vegetarian community lunch (Langar) will be served for all after the service. Free parking for the occasion is being generously provided by The Annunciation Catholic Church at 3800 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20016. Free parking is also available on streets during the weekend.

Sikh Gurdwara, DC is also host to the 9/11 Unity walk on Sunday September 8th, 2013 and will be serving free vegetarian lunch to all.

Construction of the Sikh Gurdwara, DC was started in 2002 and was completed in 2005. The Gurdwara has been closed since 2011. The Gurdwara was re-established in May of 2013 by Jaswant Sawhney Irrevocable Trust Fund, a non-profit 501(c)/3 organization. About Jaswant Sawhney Irrevocable Trust

Jaswant Sawhney Irrevocable Trust has a dual mandate. The first mandate of the trust is to collect and send to Pingalwara 100% of all donations collected for the Pingalwara Charitable Society. The trust encourages and solicits tax deductible donations from citizens of Canada and USA for Pingalwara and bares all expenses for the collection and transfer of funds to Pingalwara. The second mandate is to promote college education for students who qualify on the basis of need and merit. The trust also gives two annual awards - The Medical Resident of the year award nominated by The MedStar Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and The Nurse of the year award nominated by The Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
