LA Artcore is pleased to present a solo exhibit by Kamaljeet Ahluwalia and Nori Shirasu during the month of July, both of whose visual art interacts with music. See below for exhibition, reception, and performace dates. We hope to see you there!

Having a complete background and education in the Ragas of Indian classical music, British-Indian artist Kamaljeet Ahluwalia began developing a synthesis between Ragas and painting by visually translating the many moods and qualities found within the music. Because Ahluwalia's paintings include audio of its corresponding raga, viewers will be able to uncover numerous dialogues between ancient and contemporary art forms.

For this exhibit, Kamaljeet explores her journey through womanhood by visually exploring the Ragas she became intimate with at various milestones in her life: youth, courtship, pregnancy, motherhood, as well as Ragas from the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji which served as a common thread throughout the milestones. LA Artcore conducted an in-depth interview with Kamaljeet about the upcoming exhibition and her approach to art and music. Read the full interview here: INTERVIEW

Adding to the spirit of music in the month of July, both artists will perform at Artcore's public night of performances featuring five live sets spanning an array of music, dance and visual art. Shirasu will present a performance of live painting along with a choreographed dance while Ahluwalia will perform an Indian Classical instrumental piece on the Santoor, accompanied by her husband Jas on the Tabla. This night of performances will also feature Chilean music by Ruben Sanjama, the Jong Im Lee Dance Academy, and Dancing With Light by Echo and Ting Ting Lew.
