Atheism is Destroying My Belief in God!

When I pray, I can feel Gods energy, but science says that these are just feelings of calmness and comfort in our brain...

From the SikhNet Youth Question and Answer Forum

WJKK WJKF. Recently, I have become very interested in the existence of God and I was really questioning if God is all around us and with us. But it seems like science has proven otherwise. Science says that we have no soul as this is proven through neuroscience. We are simply our bodies and brains. We are complex cell systems. It’s not possible for us to have a soul. Science proves karma as false. I know we, Sikhs, believe in karma but scientifically it’s not possible. Religions believe in miracles, but as Stephen Hawking had proven, miracles are not compatible with science. Even near death experiences have been proven as hallucinations. I’ve always believed that God has to exist because this universe is so complex and perfect but science says how complexity does not require an intelligent creator. Also a Harvard study proves that prayers do not work. A study was conducted where people prayed for half of hospital patients and the other half was not prayed for. The same amount of deaths occurred no matter who was prayed for or not. When I pray, I feel like God is with me and that I can feel Gods energy but science says that these are just feelings of calmness and comfort in our brain. I’m so upset because it’s seems like God is being proven false by science. This makes me so sad. Please share your opinion. (Sikh123)

Gurfateh Jio! I completely understand your situation, so I will state up front that I have a degree in neuroscience and worked for many years at Ohio State University as a Research Associate in High Energy Physics (sub-atomic particle physics.)

Science and religion are actually describing the exact same creator/creation, but they are using two different languages to do so. Let's take a simple example. Black holes and white holes...

Scientific Language: Black holes are so massively dense that their intense gravitational pull constantly sucks in surrounding matter. Out of a white hole constantly streams newly formed "infant" stars. White holes are known as "star nurseries." The matter entering a black hole is transformed beyond the event horizon and reborn as new "star stuff." All atoms in the universe are the same everywhere, though their proportions may be different. Every atom in and on our little planet Earth came from "stardust." We are all then, literally made out of stardust.

Spritual Language: There is One energy which manifests in all the forms we see. All forms arise from the One and fall back into the One. Everything we see is God. In fact, there is nothing but God, the One energy which is constantly creating, organizing and destroying all forms. Our True Being is suspended at the zero point from which, and into which, all creation flows.

I see no contradiction at all. We are all talking about what is true, just speaking two different languages.
