The 7th Lord of Miracles Tour in Honor of Guru Ram Das lands in Ecuador!

October 14th, 2009 by Ram Das Singh
We dedicate this entire tour to Guru Simran Kaur Khalsa [14 years old] of Miri Piri Academy and Los Angeles, CA who graciously left her body due to cancer on September 24, 2009

On September 24, the 7th Lord of Miracles Tour in Honor of Guru Ram Das commenced with the arrival of S.S. Gurubachan Singh Khalsa, S.S. Ram Das Singh Khalsa and Sat Guru Kaur of Albuquerque, New Mexico in Quito, Ecuador. This year’s monumental tour will cover 14 cities in 9 countries throughout Central America and South America over a period of 45 days. For the first time ever, the Lord of Miracles Tour will visit El Salvador in Central America.

This tour was the inspiration of Siri Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji in 2002 when he told S.S. Gurubachan Singh Khalsa to go and teach throughout all of the Americas. From the northern Rio Grande border of Mexico to the tip of Chile the teachings of Shabad Guru and Kundalini Yoga takes on a special energy with the tour dedicated to Guru Ram Das, the Lord of Miracles. Guru Ram Das, the 4th Guru of the Sikhs was known for his service, humility and healing powers. It is in his memory that we dedicate this tour every year and travel all over the world invoking his love and service to those who are in need.  “Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru Jini Siria tinay savaria. Poori hoe karamat apa sirjan hare dharia.”

As in previous years, the program in each city includes the Lord of Miracles Lecture, seva projects, Kundalini yoga, demonstrations and classes in gatka, bhangra, Gurbani Kirtan and Shabd Guru. It is a nonstop tour of meeting heads of states, government officials, business leaders and reaching the hearts of millions through lectures, TV, radio and just walking the streets sightseeing. It is a non commercial tour to simply serve and uplift people through our technology, smiles and presence. It is a way to introduce the power and grace of Guru Ram Das to all and share with them the teachings that Yogi Bhajan so generously shared with us through Siri Guru Granth Sahib and Kundalini Yoga. Now there are millions of people throughout Latin America who maintain their religious belief system but also practice Jap Ji, chanting, meditating, yoga, Kirtan and teach stories of the Gurus to their children. It is a beautiful blend of Eastern and Western culture and life styles.

The beauty of arriving to Ecuador from the USA is that it is a daytime flight. Ecuador is situated in the northern part of the continent. It is the Arc Line of South America that includes beautiful Volcanic mountains, Amazon jungle, and the pristine Pacific Ocean areas. The famous Galapagos Islands of Darwin fame belong to Ecuador. Throughout this entire country of smiling faces and bright eyes, the Ecuadorians are a wonderful mix of Spanish and Indigenous peoples whose food and music is a delight to savor and enjoy.  The people are sweet, kind, loving and relaxed.

It is wonderful to see how the teachings of Yogi Bhajan have been so well received. From the capital of Quito to the colonial city of Cuenca, these teachings are spreading all over the country. Our first stop was Quito. When we arrived we were greeted by our local sangat of Har Hari Singh, Guru Prakash Singh and Sat Prakash Kaur and we were honored with a typical folkloric dance of Ecuador. Their grace and charm was enduring as we watched them acting out a traditional “boy meets girl” dance. It really reminded us of the similarities of Punjabi culture.

From there we boarded our continuing flight to Cuenca, the third largest city in Ecuador and the seat of Colonial History. Our host, Jap Hari Kaur received us and we went to our first event at the convention center. The topic for the evening was “Managing stress during times of Crises”. It was attended by the major business leaders and local citizens, who for the next 3 hours learned meditations to reduce stress, activate their intuition and handle the crises in their life. From the teachings of Shabd Guru and Kundalini Yoga to meditating with Kirtan and on Guru Ram Das, the participants left feeling energized, focused and grateful. It is very interesting to note that so many people were moved by their experience to the point of tears and for most of them it was their first time learning these teachings.

The following day we had the privilege to work with many of the students and teachers in Cuenca and discussed how the teachings of Shabd Guru can help them expand in times of recession. While walking and sightseeing we stopped for ice cream and were immediately asked so many questions of who we are and what do we do.  From that we meet a group of young American college students who happened to be in Ecuador on a spiritual quest. By the time we were finished we decided to meet together and have an impromptu class on Kundalini Yoga where they chanted Kirtan and learned techniques to experience their own souls.  And after a wonderful lunch on traditional Ecuadorian food of Jumping gauchos [Ecuador’s tikkis] and soup, we boarded our plane for our 1 hour flight back to Quito.

When we arrived in Quito we had our Lord of Miracles lecture whose theme for the entire tour is “Expanding during times of Crises”. With a full house of a mix of Quito’s citizenry we explored through meditations and pranayamas on how to really expand instead of contracting. With the evening ending in chanting “Mul Mantra” and “Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru”, we shared a delicious Langar. The local sangat inaugurated their first Langar Quito with a delicious mix of Ecuadorian and Indian food. Now they will be going out to different areas of the city on a regular basis offering Langar to those in need.

Our final day in Ecuador included visiting two beautiful yoga centers where one contains a health food store and vegetarian restaurant. We were also serenaded with a beautiful demonstration of classical guitar played by Matthew and David, 15 year old twin sons of Hari Jot Kaur who will be attending Miri Piri Academy in the next school year. From there we were treated to a wonderful pizza lunch. As many of you have followed our articles on the Lord of Miracles Tour these past seven years you all know that pizza is a definite part of this tradition!

Over the next six weeks we will be sharing with you the joy and blessing of being part of the 7th Lord of Miracles Tour in Honor of Guru Ram Das.

Reporting to you from 35,000 feet somewhere over the Peruvian border en route to our 2nd city, Lima, Peru.

S.S. Gurubachan Singh Khalsa,
Sat Guru Kaur,
Ram Das Singh Khalsa

The 7th tour of Lord of

The 7th tour of Lord of miracle in the honour of Guru Ram Dass Sahib is on its way to Equador by S S Gurbachan Singh Khalsa on 24 sep, 2009. It will go to 14 cities of 9 countries and take 45 days. The first tour of Lord of miracle was performed by Siri Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Jogi Ji in 2002.Now their are two Lords, One Guru Ram Das Sahib and Second is Siri Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Jogi Ji. There can not be two Lords As Can never be the two Presidents or Prime ministers in spirtuall or temporal world at one time in any Religion or in any country. In Sikhism there is nothing about miracles. All Sikh Guru Sahiban always remain with in Lord GOD'S order. So in Sikh Philosophy when a person is on the path of Sikhism, then he is on the path of Truth and it is Itself a miracle. So Guru Ram Das are not Lord of miracle according Sikhism. According Sikhism a person who follow the teachings of Sikh Guru Sahiban is called a Sikh and when he adopts Amrit of Khanda and Bata, He is called Khalsa. Sikhism is based on Purity of Mind, Honest Earning, Meditation on LORD GOD'S name, Truthfull Living, Share His Earning with others,Keep his senses in control, Live with their families, Salvation while living, True to his word and Physical Perfactness and not any Rituals and stone worship etc. Sikhism and Yog are two different Philosophies. The person who rides two boats will Sink one day. One should live in totallity, not in parts. Similarly all the Sikhs who got the martyrdom were called Bhai. Two philosophies can never occupie in one perfact person. When Bhai Manj gone to Guru Arjan Sahib to adopt Sikhi ( Sikhism ) then Guru Sahib asked Bhai Manj That Sikhi can not sit on Sikhi, because Bhai Manj was Leader of Sakhi Server which is the first step to enter Islam. Bhai Manj adopt Sikhism and put off the Grave of Pir. Later on He has to face many difficulties but he remain Sikh with full determination and his name in sikh history. Again SHABAD GURU ( GYAN OR KNOWELEDGE ) and KUDALINE YOG does not suit to each other. I wonder what unawairness and spirtual darkness is in India the same thing is in USA. IF LORD IS GURU, THEN BHAI SAHIB BHAI AND KHALSA IS ENOUGH, IF LORD IS SIRI SINGH SAHIB AND YOGI AND TEACHINGS OF YOGI THEN NO NEED OF GURU SAHIBAN. I will wait views on this issue.

Guru Ram Das Yogi

According to Bani, Guru Ram Das gained the title of 'Raj Jog'. Panna 1399: "Raj Jog Takhat Deean Guru Ram Das". On panna 1406 the following is written about Guru Ram Das: "He is seated upon the Throne of Truth, with the canopy above His Head; He is embellished with the powers of Yoga and the enjoyment of pleasures." These Banis seems to imply that for the Guru, Yoga and Sikhi are not completely incompatible. Bhagat Siri Jaidev describes a meditation, what some people would call a "yoga kriya". It involves breathing in through one nostril, holding the breath and breathing out through another while repeating God's name a certain amount of times (panna 1106): "The breath is drawn in through the left nostril; it is held in the central channel of the Sushmanaa, and exhaled through the right nostril, repeating the Lord's Name sixteen times." Would such a practice be considered part of "Yoga" or "Sikhi"? In my opinion the caparison between Bhai Manj and Sakhi Sarvar to the above article doesn't exactly fit. In the first example we have a devoted man who already has a spiritual path and he decides to take another one, which is much more difficult. In this article however, we have a man introducing a new philosophy to huge numbers of people who weren't previously exposed to anything like that. They find it inspiring and uplifting, the choice is left to them if they want to incorporate it in their lives. I feel it's against my Sikhi to enter in to religious debate. If I have done so, I will try not to in the future. It is through respect of others that I share my opinions here, because keeping silent can sometimes be a sign of greater disrespect. It is through dialogue that we can all learn. There are many, many examples in Sikh history of scholarly, learned men who know a lot of philosophy. Every time the Guru showed them differently. Not through chatting or debate but the Guru always taught with physical lessons. Some people write opinions on internet chats about history. Some people go out in the world and, in the name of Guru Ram Das, make history. God bless Gurbachan Singh and every beloved of the Guru who puts their prayers on their hands and feet and goes out to do the work. Singh Sahib Gurbachan Singh loves Guru Ram Das very, very much. If one really wants to know his character, they would be wise to meet him for themselves, then form an opinion. May we be pure so we belong to God who brings all victory.

Respected Herijot ( ? ) ji,

Respected Herijot ( ? ) ji, Sat Sri Akal, It is not a debate and more over i poor person is not a learned man, but the adultration to Baba Nanak's Philosophy can not be tolerated. We should feed pure to this great global community. In my opinion to feed according to our self is a greatest crime in the world of religion. Guru Arjan Sahib has clearly mentioned on Ang 265, in third Asatpadi's first pauri and condemned the practice of yoga. As you have mention in Ang 1399, Guru Amar Dass has blessed Ram Dass with the temporal and spiritual throne and again on Ang 1406 blessed with canopy on the head and seated on the True Throne and embellished with both the spiritual and secular powers. With the blessings of Gurus we will meet one day. God bless all. Sat Sri Akal.

Discussion

Well I'm always for a good discussion. It is important that we understand Bani, educate ourselves and educate others. To me the beauty of Guru ji is that it is written exactly as the Guru's and Bhagat's wrote it. No one can argue that Bhagat Siri Jai Dev wrote that on Panna 1106. The real trouble comes when the scriptures are edited, which has happened in other religions. Thank God for the SGGS ji! As far as Guru ji condemning.... I think condemned is too strong a word for what Guru ji says in that ashtapadi (Panna 265) about yoga. What I got from that section is that there are a million different ways people aspire spiritually but the grace comes from a power not of our own. It says, "- none of these are equal to the contemplation of the Name of the Lord, O Nanak, if, as Gurmukh, one chants the Naam, even once. ||1||" Guru is saying that there are millions of ways people try to get the Real Thing but they don't equal chanting the Name. Guru ji doesn't speak of any condemnation here. More than that, if you carefully read the ashtapadi you referenced, you might notice something interesting. Guru ji initially says "Jap, tap, gian, sabh dhian". Later it says, "Nanak Gurumukh naam japie ik bar". Look at the word "Jap". The same word is being used for something that is fruitless and later being used as the solution. Chanting and all kinds of other practices are of no use... then the solution is to chant. In this ashtapadi (thank you for referencing it!), it may seem like there is a contradiction. I don't believe the Guru is contradictory. There must be some dynamic truth, some nuance, some higher order, some divine dichotomy to this ashtapadi. It looks to me like the Guru is writing about something subtle and not so easy to say, "Do this, don't do that." It looks to me like the Guru is forcing us to think and encouraging us to let the interpretation come from our hearts. In the end no interpretation, no writing or describing will suffice. It is simply indescribable. Jogi Andar Jogiaa, Tu Bhogi Andar Bhogiaa.
