17 y/o Simran Kaur Talks of Olympic Gold Ambition

Kaur is a five-time national champion and European silver medallist in the 51kg category.

Simran Kaur, 17, says she feels like she is "representing" Asians and females as she aims to become the first female Asian boxer to represent Great Britain at the Olympics.

Kaur is a five-time national champion and European silver medallist in the 51kg category.
Simran: "It feels like I'm representing the Asian community and the female community. I want to push if forward to make it even bigger so I'm not the only one there. My inspiration is Nikola Adams: She went the olympics and won gold, and then she went again and won gold. That's what I want to do, I definitely want to go to the olympics twice if I can. At the moment is the olympics that make me excited. Thinking about going pro, that will be when I'm older but at the moment it's the olympics I have my eyes on... I did meet an Asian girl who said she started boxing because of me. That made me really happy because I didn't think I was that kind of role model to people but that's what I want to be, that's what I want to have happen."
