Satgur Nanak Dev ji Maharaj speaks in the Soohi Raag, the Raag of Love, the Raag which is colored in the sooha, crimson color of love.

Guru ji begins with the Mangala Charan, ik oa(n)kaar sathigur prasaadh, there is One Eternal, Creative, Nourishing and Destructive being, who is found through the sat, the true gur prasad, the Guru's grace.

aavahu sajanaa ho dhaekhaa dharasan thaeraa raam
aavahu sajanaa ho dhaekhaa dharasan thaeraa raam, aavahu O come, who? sajanaa, my friends, come my friends, ho dhaekhaa dharasan thaeraa, so I may dhaekhaa, see you, see what? Darshan, so that I may have your blessed vision, thaeraa raam, O Waheguru, O my friend.

ghar aapanarrai kharree thakaa mai man chaao ghanaeraa raam
ghar aapanarrai kharree thakaa mai man chaao ghanaeraa raam, kharree, means to stand, thakaa means to wait and watch, aapanarrai, means mine, ghar, means house; I stand at the gate of my house, kharree thakaa, watching, waiting, watching for You, mai man chaao ghanaeraa raam, O my friend, in my man, in my mind, there is ghanaeraa, there is a great, there is a deep chaao, a deep yearning, a deep desire to become one with You. Who is the friend that we are waiting for, Waheguru.

man chaao ghanaeraa sun prabh maeraa mai thaeraa bharavaasaa
man chaao ghanaeraa sun prabh maeraa mai thaeraa bharavaasaa, in my man, in my mind there is ghanaeraa, there is a great deep chaao, deep desire, deep longing, sun prabh mera, O listen, mera, O my Lord, my prabhu, my Waheguru; mai thaeraa bharavaasaa, I place in my bharavaasaa, all my support all my hopes, all my prayers, all my faith, in You, in thaeraa.

dharasan dhaekh bhee nihakaeval janam maran dhukh naasaa
dharasan dhaekh bhee nihakaeval janam maran dhukh naasaa, when I was blessed with your darshan, what happened to me, I became nihakaeval, nihakaeval, means someone who is broken out of bondage of desire, janam maran dhukh naasaa, the dukh, the pain of janam maran, of life and death, has naasaa, has been removed; because I became one with You. To behold Waheguru is to become one with Waheguru. There is no other way to behold infinity, than to merge in with infinity.

sagalee joth jaathaa thoo soee miliaa bhaae subhaaeae
sagalee joth jaathaa thoo soee miliaa bhaae subhaaeae, Guru ji has explained this so beautifully; Guru ji says sagalee joth, in all light, jaathaa thoo soee, You are known through it, You are shining through it. The only way to jaathaa, to know God is to see that light shine through all; miliaa bhaae subhaaeae, subhaaeae means the easiest way, miliaa means to be united, bhaae means love; the easiest way of uniting with God is love. Jin Prem keeio thin hee prahbh paaiaieeo, Guru Gobind Singh ji says in Akal Ustath.

naanak saajan ko bal jaaeeai saach milae ghar aaeae
naanak saajan ko bal jaaeeai saach milae ghar aaeae, Nanak bal jaaeeai, is a sacrifice to thesajan, to the True friend, Waheguru, saach milae ghar aaeae, and within Nanak's ghar, within Nanak's soul house, he has found saach, he has found the Truth.

ghar aaeiarrae saajanaa thaa dhhan kharee sarasee raam
ghar aaeiarrae saajanaa thaa dhhan kharee sarasee raam, when the sajanaa, when the friend, ghar aaeiarrae, to the house, to the soul, when the friend, Waheguru enters into the house of the soul, thaa, then what happens? dhhan kharee sarasee raam, kharee, means very, sarasee, means overjoyed, the bride is very much overjoyed, the bride of this soul.

har mohiarree saach sabadh t(h)aakur dhaekh reha(n)see raam
har mohiarree saach sabadh t(h)aakur dhaekh reha(n)see raam, the bride soul is mohiarree, is fascinated, is hooked to the saach sabadh, the satnam, the true Word of the Guru; t(h)aakur dhaekh reha(n)see raam, and dhaekh, gazing upon, being blessed with the vision, of the thaakur, of the Lord, reha(n) see raam, the soul bride is full of reha(n) see, with joy.

gun sa(n)g reha(n)see kharee sarasee jaa raavee ra(n)g raathai
gun sa(n)g reha(n)see kharee sarasee jaa raavee ra(n)g raathai, the soul bride is reha(n) see, filled with joy, but why, because she is filled with gun, with virtues, kharee sarasee, she becomes completely sarasee, completely ecstatic, jaa raavee ra(n)g raathai, when she is raavee, when she is united with, enjoyed by her lover, Waheguru and His love, His ra(n)g.

avagan maar gunee ghar shhaaeiaa poorai purakh bidhhaathai
avagan maar gunee ghar shhaaeiaa poorai purakh bidhhaathai, avagan maar, and what happens when you fall in love with Waheguru, your avagan are maar, your avagan, your faults, your sins are maar, are destroyed, gunee ghar shhaaeiaa, shhaaeiaa, means to take over, and gunee, the virtues take over the ghar, the home of the soul; poorai purakh bidhhaathai, and this is all the grace of the poorai purakh, poorai, means perfect, purakh, means being, bidhhaathai, means the One who shapes the destiny of the Universe.

thasakar maar vasee pa(n)chaaein adhal karae veechaarae
thasakar maar vasee pa(n)chaaein adhal karae veechaarae, you maar, you destroy the thasakar, the thief; who are the thieves? Greed, desire, anger, ego, attachment; then what happens? vasee pa(n)chaaein, the soul bride dwells as the master, as the mistress of her own self. Man jeethai jagjeet, he or she in the form of the soul bride conquers himself; adhal karae veechaarae, and now the mind can go to higher thoughts, to higher veechar, to higher understanding.

naanak raam naam nisathaaraa guramath milehi piaarae
naanak raam naam nisathaaraa guramath milehi piaarae, O Nanak through the raam naam, through the name of Waheguru, you will be nisathaaraa, you will be liberated; guramath milehi piaarae, only through the Guru's math, only through the Guru's teachings, only through the Guru's wisdom, can you milehi, can you be united with your beloved, with your piaarae.

var paaeiarraa baalarreeeae aasaa manasaa pooree raam
var paaeiarraa baalarreeeae aasaa manasaa pooree raam, when the baalarreeeae, when the young soul bride paaeiarraa, finds, and is united with her var, her husband Lord, her Lord and Master, Waheguru, her aasaa, all her hopes and manasaa, all her desires and wishes are pooree, are fulfilled.

pir raaviarree sabadh ralee rav rehiaa neh dhooree raam
pir raaviarree sabadh ralee rav rehiaa neh dhooree raam, Guru ji says if you want to raaviarree, if you want to enjoy your pir, your husband Lord, Waheguru, what you have to do, sabadh ralee, you have to ralee, ralee means to blend into, you have to merge yourself into, you have to absorb yourself into the shabadh, into the Word of the Guru, into the Guru's mantar, into that Waheguru mantar, into that Satnam mantar, of the Guru. And then what happens? rav rehiaa neh dhooree raam, you realize that Waheguru is rav rehiaa, rav rehiaa means permeating through all, neh dhooree, neh means not, dhooree means far away; you realize that God is not far away, God is closer than your hands. Bhagat Ravidas says kahai ravidas hath paie neerai, sehjay ho-ay so ho-ee, O Ravidas, Waheguru is closer to you than your hands and your feet.

prabh dhoor n hoee ghatt ghatt soee this kee naar sabaaee
prabh dhoor n hoee ghatt ghatt soee this kee naar sabaaee, prabh, that Waheguru, that Lord, dhoor n hoee, is never dhoor, is never far away, ghatt ghatt soee, in everyone's ghat, in everyone's heart, is that soee, is that One, Waheguru shining through; this kee naar sabaaee, sabaaee means everyone, everyone is His naar, everyone is His bride.

aapae raseeaa aapae raavae jio this dhee vaddiaaee
aapae raseeaa aapae raavae jio this dhee vaddiaaee, aapae raseeaa, Waheguru Himself is the Enjoyer, aapae raavae, Waheguru is the One who enjoys everything; jio this dhee vaddiaaee, everything happens, jio, as, this dhee vaddiaaee, as Waheguru's greatness, as per His hukam, as per His greatness, as per His ecstasy, as per His plan.

amar addol amol apaaraa gur poorai sach paaeeai
amar addol amol apaaraa gur poorai sach paaeeai, amar addol, that Waheguru is amar, never ending, never dying, addol, never to be moved, immovable, amol, valuable, apaaraa, who has no end, who is infinite; gur poorai sach paaeeai, we can paaeeai, we can find this sach, this eternal Truth of God, how? Through the gur poorai, through the perfect Guru.

naanak aapae jog sajogee nadhar karae liv laaeeai
naanak aapae jog sajogee nadhar karae liv laaeeai, O Nanak, aapae, Waheguru Himself, jog, joins us as sajogee, into His union, nadhar karae liv laaeeai, only if we are blessed by His nadar, by His glance of Grace, liv laaeeai, does our liv, does our consciousness, laaeeai, attach to His Lotus feet.

pir oucharreeai maarrarreeai thihu loaa sirathaajaa raam
pir oucharreeai maarrarreeai thihu loaa sirathaajaa raam, my pir, my Waheguru dwells in the oucharreeai, the highest place, maarrarreeai, the loftiest most unreachable place, thihu loaa sirathaajaa raam, Waheguru is the sirathaajaa, thaaj, means crown, sir means head, thihu loaa, means all 3 worlds Waheguru is the highest.

ho bisam bhee dhaekh gunaa anehadh sabadh agaajaa raam
ho bisam bhee dhaekh gunaa anehadh sabadh agaajaa raam, ho, means I, bisam bhee means to go into ecstasy, I go into ecstasy, I am amazed, I am in wonder, dhaekh gunaa, when I dhaekh, when I see, Waheguru's gunaa, virtues through everything; anehadh sabadh agaajaa raam, then what happens? The anehadh shabadh, the unstruck sound, agaajaa raam, resonates through me, vibrates through me.

sabadh veechaaree karanee saaree raam naam neesaano
sabadh veechaaree karanee saaree raam naam neesaano, I veechaaree the shabadh, I contemplate the habadh, karanee saaree, and my karanee, my deeds are saaree, are perfect, raam naam neesaano, because I have been blessed with the symbol, with the neesaano, with the mark of raam naam, of God's name.

naam binaa khottae nehee t(h)aahar naam rathan paravaano
naam binaa khottae nehee t(h)aahar naam rathan paravaano, without the naam we arekhotae, we are false, nehee t(h)aahar, we cannot find any t(h)aahar, any place of rest, naam rathan paravaano, the rathan, the diamond of naam is paravaano, is accepted, in this world and definitely in the next.

path math pooree pooraa paravaanaa naa aavai naa jaasee
path math pooree pooraa paravaanaa naa aavai naa jaasee, my path, my honor, my math, my understanding is now pooree, is blessed, satisfied through the Guru's answer, naa aavai naa jaasee, and now I won't have to aavai, to come back into this Earth or jaasee, or leave again.

naanak guramukh aap pashhaanai prabh jaisae avinaasee
naanak guramukh aap pashhaanai prabh jaisae avinaasee, O Nanak, the guramukh, the only truely faces towards the Guru, the one who truly follows the Guru,aap pashhaanai, recognizes aap, recognizes himself or herself, prabh jaisae avinaasee, and he or she realizes that my soul is prabh jaisae, is just like the Lord, the avinaasee, the never ending, the imperishable, the amar, the blessed Lord. So, what Guru ji is saying to us today is meditate upon the shabadh; there is nothing else, there is no other place of rest, there is nowhere else to go apart from the shabadh, apart from the Lotus feet of Waheguru; and then we shall meet with our Friend and rejoice forever.

ghar aapanarrai kharree thakaa mai man chaao ghanaeraa raam ||
