Sathiguru Patshah Guru Raamdaasjee Maharaj begins the shabad today,

Har keerath man bhaaee param gath paaee har man than meeth lagaan jeeo |
Those people in whose mind bhaaee - bhaaee means to be pleased with, bhaaee means to accept, to follow. Those people who are accepted, who have followed, who have fallen in love with har keerath - the praise of Hari, of Waheguru, what do they achieve? Gurujee says in the next few shabads that they param gath paaee - they've found param - means the highest, gath means liberation. They've found the ultimate state of being, the ultimate state of liberation, of realization. They've acquired jeevan mukthi whilst being alive. Har keerath man bhaaee - those people who've fallen in love with, who've understood, who've accepted, who have followed the praise of Hari, of Waheguru and what happens? Har man than meeth lagan jeeo - with their man - their mind and their than - their body, with both mind and body they find Hari Waheguru to be meeth - to be sweet, lagan - to be sweet, to experience: to experience the sweetness with their mind and body. Their mind is completely at peace and in this way their body is blessed. When you are angry there are lines on your forehead, when you are crying, when you are sad tears run down your eyes, when you are happy you smile, you grin, your teeth show, that which is inside you blossoms forth. In the same way that person who has complete peace inside them, that blossoms forth in their words, in the way they talk.

Har har ras paaeiaa guramath har dhiaaeiaa dhur masathak bhaag puraan jeeo |
Those people who've found this true essence, this true ras in God's name guramath har dhiaaeiaa - how have they found it? - Through meditating upon Hari, upon Waheguru. But how, how do we meditate upon Waheguru? - by following guramath - by following Guru's wisdom, through the Guru's wisdom, through the Guru's teaching, through what Guru Granth Sahibjee is telling us. Only those people find it who have dhur masathak bhaag puraan jeeo - who have such bhaag - such destiny, dhur means pre-ordained destiny, puraan - Guru sahibjee uses this word here that that destiny which has been written upon their foreheads comes in front and they finds the essence of God's life, the essence of life which is meditating upon God. Har har ras paaeiaa - those people find this ras guramath har dhiaaeiaa - through Guru's wisdom, by following what the Guru says upon God's name and upon who does this? Dhur masathak bhaag puraan jeeo - who has this pre-ordained destiny written upon their foreheads.

Dhur masathak bhaag har naam suhaag har naamai har gun gaaeiaa |
Those people who have such pre-ordained destiny, such blessed destiny, har naam suhaag - they are always happily married, they are always joined with their Husband Lord. Har naamai har gun gaaeiaa - through the Name of Waheguru, through the name of Hari they sing the praises of Hari - har gun gaaeiaa - they sing the praises of Waheguru.

Masathak manee preeth bahu pragattee har naamai har sohaaeiaa |
Upon their masathakh - upon their forehead, the manee - the jewel of devotional love to God is sparkling, bhau pragattee - means it is there to be seen by all. Upon their forehead you can see the shining love of God. Har naamai har sohaaeiaa - through the name of God they are sohaaeiaa - they are adorned, they are decorated with the name of God, with the love of God, they are decorated with that internal peace and external ease. Guru Granth Sahibjee tells us Ghar sukh vassea bahar sukh paaea, Guru Granth Sahibjee tells us. If there is peace inside you everything you do will carry and will be in that inner peace.

Jothee joth milee prabh paaeiaa mil sathigur manooaa maan jeeo |
Their jothee - their aatmaa merges in with that eternal joth - with the eternal parmatmaa - with that God. Milee - they are united, prabh paaeiaa - they have found their Husband Lord God. Mil sathigur manooaa maan jeeo - meeting the Sathiguru, the eternal Guru this manooaa maan - accepts the Guru's word, falls at the Guru's feet. Guru sahibjee is telling us that only way to get into gear, to get our mind into accepting this is by falling at the feet of the Guru, by meeting with the guru.

Har keerath man bhaaee param gath paaee har man than meeth lagaan jeeo |1|
Again Gurujee begins, takes the beginning tuk har keerath man bhaaee - those people who have been pleased with, who have been satisfied, who have been won over by the praises of God, by the praises of Hari, of Waheguru param gath paaee - they've found the ultimate state of being. Har man than meeth lagan jeeo - they find God to be sweet in their mind, body and soul.

Har har jas gaaeiaa param padh paaeiaa thae ootham jan paradhaan jeeo |
Those people who sing the praises of Hari, praises of Lord param padh paaeiaa - they've found the highest state of being. Thae ootham jan paradhaan jeo - they are the highest of the high, they are paradhaan - they are the true leaders, they are true, acclaimed, blessed ones.

Thina ham charan saraeveh khin khin pag dhoveh jin har meeth lagaan jeeo |
I saraeveh - I serve and bow down to their feet, khin khin - at each moment pag dhoveh - I wash the feet of those people. What does that mean to wash the feet of those people? What Guru Sahibjee is saying is that washing their feet - is to walk along the path of God, washing their feet means taking in those steps towards God, learning from those steps. Guru Sahibjee says jin har meeth lagan jeeo - those people who find the name of Name of God sweet I bow down, I wash their feet, I am a sacrifice to each step that they take.

Har meethaa laaeiaa param sukh paaeiaa mukh bhaagaa rathee chaarae |
Those people who find Hari, who find Wahegurujee's name to be meetha - to be sweet param sukh paaeiaa - they find the greatest peace, unending peace. Mukh bhaagaa rathee chaarae - in their mukh, upon their forehead they have bhaagaa - they have such pre-ordained destiny, chaarae - means beautiful. Guru Sahibjee, Guru Raamdaas jee is saying that their mukh, their faces are ordained with this beautiful, shining destiny which has brought them to meditate upon God's name.

Guramath har gaaeiaa har haar our paaeiaa har naamaa kanth dhaarae |
Guramath har gaaeiaa - through the Guru's wisdom they've sung the praises of Hari, of Waheguru. Again and again Gurujee is talking about through the Guramath - through the Guru's wisdom, not through my own wisdom but through the Guru's wisdom. Again and again this is what guramath is about, this is what the knowledge of Guru's house is about, this is what Sikhi is about - meditating upon God how the Guru has told us, through looking at what the Guru has said. Har haar opur paaeiaa - through the Guru's wisdom, through the Guru's math they take har haar - the necklace of God's name and they wear it around their our - their heart. They wear it around their neck, they wear it around their very inner soul. One thing that you may have noticed when you put on a haar on - has to put a garland on, the person who has to put a garland on has to put their head down in order to put that garland on. Those people who are putting on necklace of God's name they bow down and they lose their ego and only then are they adorned with necklace of God's name. Har naamaa kanth dhaarae - they take the necklace of God's name into their kanths - into their necks and they meditate again and again upon that name, they take in into their very inner soul. Just like when you take a morsel of food, from your tongue it goes into your body and then becomes a part of you, pumps around all of your system as blood where it is used up as energy. In the same way you take the name of God in your mouth, take it inside you and meditate upon it and then that meditation will go on in you.

Sabh eaek dhrisatt samath kar dhaekhai sabh aatham raam pashaan jeeo |
Those people who have meditated upon God's name they have eaek dhrisatt - they see everyone with one dhristt - meaning seeing everyone the same way. They look at everyone with the view of Oneness. Sabh aatham raam pashaan jeeo - they realize that within their aatam raam - that light of God within them is the same raam - is the same Lord God who is within all.

Har har jas gaaeiaa param padh paaeiaa thae ootham jan paradhaan jeeo |2|
Har har jas gaaeiaa - those people who have sung the praises of Hari, of Lord God Waheguru param padh paaeiaa - they've found the greatest state of living, they are living the most perfect, the most blessed lives. Thae ootham jan paradhaan jeeo - they are the highest of the high.

Sathasangath man bhaaee har rasan rasaaee vich sangath har ras hoe jeeo |
Those people whose minds are in love with, are intoxicated with satsangat - congregation of truth - those people who are getting together and meditating upon the truth, not those people who get together and slander others. No gurujee is talking about satsangat - sangat of the truth, which means sitting down reading Siri Guru Granth sahibjee - that is sangat of the truth, sitting down with the Guru, sitting down with the Gurmukhs, Gursikhs who want to find the truth, who are sitting there, striving towards living the life of a Gurmukh. Sathasangath man bhaaee har rasan rasaaee - in that sangat, in that congregation the essence of God's name wells up, vich sangat har ras hoe jeeo - in the sangat you can find that essence. If you want to look for that essence of God's love, God's name you can look for it in the sangat.

Har har aaraadhiaa gur sabadh vigaasiaa beejaa avar n koe jeeo |
Those people who have meditated upon the name of Hari, upon the name of Waheguru gur sabadh vigaasiaa - through the Guru's words they blossom forth. Beejaa avar n koe jeeo - they do not look to any other, they do not look to any other source for happiness. They realize that for true happiness they only have to look to God's name and to Guru's shabad - to God's name. They live in this world but they've realized that peace of mind and eternal happiness only comes from the Guru.

Avar n koe har anmrith soe jin peeaa so bidh jaanai |
They do not consider any other har anmrtih soe - they only consider the immortal nectar of God's name. Jin peeaa so bidh jaanai - that person who has drank this God's nectar so bidh jaanai - knows the way, the path, the method. What Gurujee is saying that sit with those who have walked upon this path, who have drank guru's nectar because they know how to do it. Sit with them, sit with the sathsangat and learn the path of following what the Guru says.

Dhan dhann guroo pooraa prabh paaeiaa lag sangath naam pashaanai |
Great is that Guru, perfect is that Guru, blessed is that Guru pooraa prabh paaeiaa - through whom grace I've met perfect Lord God Waheguru. lag sangath naam pashaanai - when I attached myself to the sangat - to the congregation of the Guru naam pashaanai - I understood, I realized what the name of God was. Then what happened?

Naamo saev naamo aaraadhai bin naamai avar n koe jeeo |
I serve the name of the Lord, naamop aaraadhai - how do you serve the name of the Lord by aaraadhai - by meditating upon God. Bin naamai avar n koe jeo - I realized that without the name I do not have any other.

Sathasangath man bhaaee har rasan rasaaee vich sangath har ras hoe jeeo |3|
People who are in love with the sangat, with the truth har rasan rasaaee - the essence of God's name wells within them. Vich sangat har ras hoe jeeo - this essence of God's name is realized in the sangat.

Har dhaeiaa prabh dhaarahu paakhan ham thaarahu kat laevahu sabadh subhaae jeeo|
O Waheguru bless me with your dhaeiaa - with your grace, paakhan ham thaarahu - please save me I am like a paakhan - a rock who cannot float in the water, I am like a rock who is sinking down due to the weight of my sins. Kat laevahu sabadh subaahaae jeeo - please take me as is the subhaae - this can mean many things, it can mean subhaae - through the light of Your shabad, show me the light out of darkness, through Your shabad, through Your divine words O Guru Naanak. Subhaae also can mean subhao - nature, it is the nature of Your shabad, Your words, just as it is the nature of the wood to flow in water, if you look at ships that are made out of wood, you can put anything on top of that ship and it will never let you drown because it is the nature of the wood to float on water. You can put a stone on top of that wood and that wood will save that stone from drowing. In the same way, even the worst sinner who attaches himself to the Guru's shabad it is in the nature of the Guru's shabad to save anyone from drowing in this bhavjal - in this ocean of fear. Through the nature of Your shabad, please save me O Guru Naanak!

Moh cheekarr faathae nigharath ham jaathae har baah prabhoo pakaraae jeeo |
I am faathae - I am swamped in the cheekarr - in the mud of moh - of emotional attachment to this world. Nigharath ham jaathae - nigharath means to be enveloped, to be sinking down, I am sinking down in this attachment. Har baah prabhoo pakaraaee jeeo - O Prabhu, O Waheguru please take me out, give me Your arm, baah prabhoo pakaraae jeeo - please let me hold onto Your arm. Holding on to God's arm - what does that mean? If we look at what great saints said, Baba Nand Singhjee said that doing nitnem is holding onto Baba Naanak Jee's arm. If you want to hold on Guru Naanak's arm meditate upon Guru's name everyday, do nitnem everyday.

Prabh baah pakaraaee ootham math paaee gur charanee jan laagaa |
When God took me out by arm then ootham math paaee - then I found the highest wisdom. Gur charanee jan laagaa - what is the highest wisdom? To become a jan - to become a humble servant and to attach oneself to the Lotus feet of the Guru. What is the Lotus feet of the Guru? Guru Gobind Singhjee tells us chit charan naam - the Lotus feet of the Guru is the Naam. Attach yourself into meditating upon the Naam.

Har har naam japiaa aaraadhiaa mukh masathak bhaag sabhaagaa |
Those people who have meditated upon the Naam - the name of God mukh masathak bhaag sabhaagaa - upon their mukh, upon their faces have those destinies written.

Jan naanak har kirapaa dhaaree man har har meethaa laae jeeo |
Guru Raamdaas Maharajee says that Guru Naanak has blessed this servant with kirpaa - with His blessings. Man har har meethaa laae jeeo - my mind now finds the name of God meetha - sweet.

Har dhaeiaa prabh dhaarahu paakhan ham thaarahu kat laevahu sabadh subhaae jeeo |4|5|12|
O God please bless me with Your grace, paakhan ham thaarahu - even though I am a stone kat laevahu sabadh subhaaee jeeo - please save me through Your word, through Your shabad, through Your baanee.

Jan naanak har kirapaa dhaaree man har har meethaa laae jeeo |
Har dhaeiaa prabh dhaarahu paakhan ham thaarahu kat laevahu sabadh subhaae jeeo |4|5|12|

Waheguru jee ka Khalsa, Waheguru jee ki Fateh!
