Mahan Kalpa

One person who is normally part of the sound team (Sikhnet) every year at Summer Solstice is Mahan Kalpa.  He is actually a good music producer.

In his own words:

"I have always been fascinated by recorded sound. I made my first recordings with a friend at the age of 10. One night after watching a Godzilla movie we found his parent’s portable cassette recorder. That night I fell in love with the way recorded sound obliterated linear time and space. I produced and engineered my first commercial album in 1982 at the age of 18. Over the last 25 years I have recorded over 150 albums. I have worked with John Mellencamp, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and Iggy Pop. In 2007 I was presented with a RIAA certified double platinum album award for the Fray’s ‘How to Save a Life.’

I teach Kundalini Yoga at the Midland yoga Center, practice Aquarian Sadhana at the Wah Yantee House of Light Ashram, and record music at the White Ark Studios all in Bloomington Indiana. I am blessed with two wonderful sons (Surya and Paisley) and a beautiful wife (Jote Kaur.).
