Female foeticide is rampant in the Sikh community, especially in Punjab, while Sikhism gives the highest place to women. This movie is a voice against female foeticide.

I present before you in all earnestness this documentary which is an honest attempt to bring forth the dilemma of a young Sikh, his insecurities and his helplessness as he treads along the path of Sikhi.

Even though he follows all the norms, every time he is faced with a question he does not find an appropriate answer and he does not know whom to approach in order to get one. Through this movie, he and many like him make a plea before you and the caretakers of Sikhi to guide them.

Sikhnet.com is a wonderful step towards this. However we could further this by creating forums, large and small to create awareness and respect for our religion amongst us and amongst others. Holding regular discussions, platforms for narrations of history and readings of scholars could help. We need to invest in rural and urban alike. We need to act soon, before the faith is lost.

This is my humble request as I wish to convey through my video. Hoping for a better future for this wonderful religion of ours.

Through this video film (Sikhi sambhal veera), the dedicated students of Mata Jai Kaur Public School, Ashok Vihar, Delhi, India, have tried to awaken sikh community, especially the young generation, so that we can save ourselves from showing our backs to the guru.

This is the story of self discovery. A young Sikh boy awakens to a sense of introspection and begins to question his identity. He then embarks on a journey visiting his parents and various experts in the hope of awakening his soul to the wonders of Sikhism.

This video was created for a university project. The class theme was "Dinnertime in Sydney" and each group was to make an 8 minute segment on a different topic. We chose to focus on langar at the Gurdwara in Parklea, Sydney.

A video about Siri Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogi and interviews with various people about him. Thoughtfull and Humorous.

A short experimental, animated, abstract film about being initiated into the Sikh faith and Khalsa nation.It describes the atmosphere, mood and emotions of receiving the hold nectar (Amrit). The aim of this film is to really visualise my feelings and how I saw and felt this Amrit ceremony in my own eyes.

This spoof, based on the original advert by Carlsberg, revolves around David who coming to see a flat for renting, but is left in awe by the amazing Sikh flat mates he meets inside.

This is a short play on how after September the 11th, many people in other communities, related ‘The Turban’ with terrorism, hence a sikh man being harassed just because he is wearing a ‘Turban’.

The video "Guru Da Ghar – A perspective" peeps into the minds of Sangat to obtain their views on the basic question as to "Why we come to Gurdwara and how it affects our lives". Road shows were conducted across Gurdwaras in India for this purpose. Views expressed by the Sangat trigger a debate, instigating the youth to girdle up in right earnest and take up the challenge of re-rejuvenating the hallowed institution of Gurdwara – the life line of Sikhs.

I was sitting in the Sangat one night with the lights turned off and it got really intense. There and then, Guru Ji gave me this idea, from start to finish. At first the character is really depressed with life and he questions why he’s even here. Then he comes inside the Gurudwara and, having lost all hope in life, surrenders himself to Guru Ji. As he Matha Takes, he has flashes of his past lives showing how he slowly progressed spiritually until finally his last life where he was a yogi in deep meditation on a mountain. Back to his present sense, he slowly looks towards Guru Ji and a bright light emerges from Guru Sahib. In the end, many years have passed and we see him peacefully meditating with the divine light within him.

"This is a video with my personal feelings on Sikhi. It talks about how I went from the lows of depression to the heights of Bliss through GuruBani. It is a brief description of my interest in Sikhism and what i think a Sikh is."

Arpinder Kaur has been dreaming of flying an airplane since she was a young girl and after not only pursuing, but accomplishing this feat, I thought it would be a nice idea to create a short documentary on her inspirational life that breaks the ‘Career Field’ norm held to be true within the Sikh community.
