Re: 300 years Commemoration Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji
We are delighted to announce numerous Gurdwara’s from the East Midlands have come together to form ‘East Midlands Council of Gurdwaras’ who are now organising a major national event to commemorate 300 years of Sri Guru Granth sahib Ji (eternal Guru of the Khalsa Panth). Hosted as an open air national event it is envisaged to receive over 25,000 attendees throughout the day.
Venue: Wymeswold Air Field, Prestwold Hall, Loughborough
(Situated a few mins from M1 J24)
On: Sunday 28th September 08
Time: 10.00am to 5.00pm
Preparations onsite will start 5.30am
(Ample parking available for all vehicles)
Programme includes:
· International Kirtan Jatha’s, Poets and guest speakers
· Sikh heritage exhibition, consisting of a rare opportunity to see the Sikh Canon from the days of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji Raaj
· Interactive workshops for children and youth delivered by professional facilitators in English and Punjabi
· Children’s Fun and leisure activities
· Gathka Demonstrations
· Guru Ka Langar Seva throughout the day
We aspire to ensure this will be a memorable experience for Sangat and organizers alike. Leaving an everlasting legacy to mark this unique and once in a lifetime anniversary.
We request your assistance in order for the event to be a successful experience for all sangat. Please support us in the following areas:
A) Promote and announce this event to the sangat.
B) Assist with transport provisions for sangat (i,e coaches from Gurudwara)
C) Offer us your expertise and suggestions to improving/further developing the Programme, with the aim to leave a legacy marking the anniversary
D) Financial support by benthi/appeal to sangat (It is anticipated the event will cost in the region of 70/80K. We have raised approx 40K to-date from local sources. There remains a shortfall of 40K we are confident that this can be easily achieved collectively.
E) We welcome suggestions of ways to raise awareness of our Guru Maharaj Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to the non-Sikh community
