Waheguru ji ka khalsa
Waheguru ji ki fateh

I am Gaganpreet Singh a Amritdhari Sikh
I have completed my 12th and about to take admission in an engineering college
I want to ask the sikhsangat about facing views/jealousy of others on being different from them.It can be in any form like jokes, or in any other way
Actually I love sikhi/sardari and can even die to preserve it.So i feel very sad and get angry when someone makes joke of it.I can't listen something bad about it.
So how should I respond to these kind of situations according to Gurmat and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji
I have two views on it
1 Don"t argue and ignore them like a barking dog
Mūrkẖai nāl na lujẖī▫ai. ||19||
Don't argue with fools. ||19||SGGS-473
They will be punished hereafter in The court of the lord for making fun of God's gifts and God's true saints

2. Or I should with keeping my self respect and posture(anakh) as All gurus told us to live Respond to them
And thereafter I should show them a mirror and expose the truth of their religion in many ways you know
And tell them the history behind it(jokes).
And that you people are becoming thankless(ehsan faramosh) and these are people are burden on earth
You are great and all-powerful; my understanding is so inadequate, O Lord.

You cherish even the ungrateful ones; Your Glance of Grace is perfect, Lord. SGGS-547

The Hindu is sightless; the Muslim has only one eye.

The spiritual teacher is wiser than both of them. SGGS-875

And many........ more
This is not slandering but exposing/speaking the truth(satyamev jayate)
And moreover speaking after their statement only not started first

Please reply as soon as possible

Singh Sahib it all depends whether it is a necessary.

Take admission in a Sikh Uni or college eg Akal University, Baru Sahib or

http://www.sikhnet.com/news/engineering ... pportunity

I suppose you are talking about college hostel & room mates.

There is another option, rent an apartment (stay alone or sublet to Sikh students).

If you don't have a choice then it's better to change your temperament.

Keep in mind this verse

Ham Nehee Changae Buraa Nehee Koe ||

I am not good; no one is bad.

Raag Suhi Guru Nanak Dev Page:728 Line: 13

Source - http://searchgurbani.com/scriptures/ggs ... 84/line/11

Keep in mind your main goal, studies & degree.

Nowadays cut offs are so high that you rarely see non-studious (vehle) in reputed Institutes.

So unless you are getting admitted where capitation is norm, there is little to worry about.

Veerji I agree with you to keep myself calm
But what if he abuses any of my parents, gurus, any thing related to sikhism
If someone starts talking rubbish about r me
Actualli I live in Delhi I will get admission in college in delhi only
So no hostel problem but I have experienced these type of things earlier in my school and coaching life but ignored them
And sometimes try to stay away from them
But know I have decided to live a complete posture not only taking breath
What if someone STARTS hitting or fighting with me then what I should do according to gurmat
There are much people who don't know importance of sardari and they love to hear/make jokes
But I love it and I listen anything about that I am filled with anger that with us/sardari only they are have right to religion
they are free from britishers(80% shahhedis), they are livining lifestyle(we pay 33% income tax when we are just2% of population).I have never showed pride/ghamand on it But when someone instead of admiring slanders it.
We should tell them the truth
I think what face I wil show in the court of lord in the presence of the guru
That in front of me our gurus/parents were slandered I didn't stopped them or hit them
Through the blessing of the gurus we know the truth, we are given the mahan sri guru granth sahib ji maharaj
They showed mercy on us and prepared a boat for us for our liberation not for their benefit they were already liberated
We would have been blind like other people without the truth the bani the naam and wasted our human birth which was given to us after so many ages to unite with god
How can I listen something bad about them or their path
Sorry for any mistakes.I didn' want to hurt anyone just telling truth. The god is true and also loves truth

Gurbani clearly states that Krodh is one of five evils.

A Gursikh mustn't let Anger take control therefore you must learn Anger Management.

Consider it a test by Waheguru ji.

Below are some articles that you might find useful.

Lastly what does Gurmat say about conversing -

Rāg gond baṇī bẖagṯā kī.
Raag Gond, The Word Of The Devotees.

Kabeer Jee, First House:

Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

Sanṯ milai kicẖẖ sunī▫ai kahī▫ai.
When you meet a Saint, talk to him and listen.
xxx

Milai asanṯ masat kar rahī▫ai. ||1||
Meeting with an unsaintly person, just remain silent. ||1||

Bābā bolnā ki▫ā kahī▫ai.
O father, if I speak, what words should I utter?

Jaise rām nām rav rahī▫ai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Speak such words, by which you may remain absorbed in the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

Sanṯan si▫o bole upkārī.
Speaking with the Saints, one becomes generous.

Mūrakẖ si▫o bole jẖakẖ mārī. ||2||
To speak with a fool is to babble uselessly. ||2||

Bolaṯ bolaṯ badẖėh bikārā.
By speaking and only speaking, corruption only increases.

Bin bole ki▫ā karahi bīcẖārā. ||3||
If I do not speak, what can the poor wretch do? ||3||

Kaho Kabīr cẖẖūcẖẖā gẖat bolai.
Says Kabeer, the empty pitcher makes noise,

Bẖari▫ā ho▫e so kabahu na dolai. ||4||1||
but that which is full makes no sound. ||4||1||
