What Formula Milk is suitable for Amritdharis?
Vaheguru Jee Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Jee Kee Fateh
SMA Wysoy Formula Milk is the ONLY milk that is suitable for Amritdharis.
Others contain Omega numbers which is made with fish oils...
I am not sure if this is available in the USA - but for the Brits, this is the best option.
More info at: http://www.vegetarian.org.uk/factsheets/soyainfant.html
Hope this helps the Sat Sangat

Re: What Formula Milk is suitable for Amritdharis?
Dear UK Kaur Ji,
I have seen ingredients of SMA 1 (Gold) for infants and it only says contains : Milk and Soya. So that does mean that it doesnt have any meat/fish products. But our daughter doesn't seem to digest it very well.
Also I would like sangat's view on giving formula milk which contains fish oils to babies of amridhari parents. I know lot of medicines contain meat or fish or alcohol but they are not for purpose of satisfying one's taste they are medicinal and needed to cure something and are present in very small quantity. I don't think amritdhari's refuse any important drugs just because it might contain fish oil or meat.
i am totally against meat but want to just know about giving formula milk with fish oil to infants if mother is not able to breast feed and if milks without fish oils are troubling the baby.
thanks

Re: What Formula Milk is suitable for Amritdharis?
Guru Pyaario jee,
It is a difficult situation as there is nothing catered for us. The SMA red top is completely safe as the omegas are made from plant extract and not fish oil.
After seeking advice from elder rehitvaan Gursikhs, I was advised that if you have no choice then go with what you can. The main focus should be that you are doing your amrit vela, naam simran and as much bani as possible. This is the real nourishment that our children need.
If you give your child something with fish etc in it, you will do it because you have to not because you want to and guru sahib knows that. There are some amritsharis that have fish (meat) etc for other purposes.
Just feed the baby and make him or her strong enough to grow up and jaap naam... mean while you and your partner should strive to clock the paat(h)
Hope dass has helped
Bul chuk maaf
