Are Gurudwara Marriages Legal in the eyes of Indian Law?

Postby Abbykhurana » Mon Jul 22, 2013 6:59 am

Hi

One of my friend(female) got a marriage proposal from outside India and after discussing everything, they(boy's family) came to India and they got married in the Gurudwara(Patiala) but it wasn't able to register the marriage in the court due to some problem.
After that the boy's family cancelled the marriage.

So, my question is, there is no court certificate but there is a gurudwara marriage certificate. So are they married legally?
If yes, how to get over with it as the boy has gone back and is not willing to come to India.

So, how to dispose off this marriage?

I need to help out my friend.Help out with your valuable feedback.

Waiting for your informative and helpful replies.

Depends upon the law of the country of residence of that man. In general, foreign laws do not recognise.

Indian law recognises by 100%.
