Significance of Guru Nanak Hand holding mala

Postby csinghj » Mon Jul 24, 2017 11:56 pm

You often see pics of Guru Nanak with his hand stretched out holding a mala. What is the significance of that?

Members of various religions such as Islam, Roman Catholicism, Orthodox Christianity and Bahá'í use Mala to count the repetitions of mantras but why is it so prominent in Guru Nanak's depictions? and what does the stretched hand mean? I'm just very curious.
