The following 5-minute procedure has helped many and Pavan Singh Khalsa hopes to spread the word as much as possible.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,

This following review will help the general public find Shabads with almost a click of a button. It will be especially rewarding to those who use their computers regularly to search for Shabads on a daily basis. You should certainly not back away from this short and unique tutorial if you personally think you do not know anything about computers. Don’t worry, the installation is very easy, short and targeted towards un-tech-savvy people. However, before we begin, there is one minimum system requirement; your computer’s operating system must be running a version of Windows Vista or Windows 7. Your computer must not be running Windows XP nor any other operating system (such as Mac, Linux) or this will not work. To find out what operating system your computer has, clicking on the following link which will help you: http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/pro ... eckos.mspx . After you have verified that you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, let’s get started with the procedure:

Procedure:

1. First, you will be downloading a gadget for your computers desktop. A gadget is basically a lightweight single-purpose application that sits on a user's computer desktop allowing them to perform tasks without all the hassles which are typically involved. Clicking on the following link will help you to install the “SikhiToTheMax” gadget: http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail. ... b5c31510d1 . Once on the webpage, click “Download” and then “Install” and when a notification box appears select “Open.” It is a totally safe download (it has been virus tested by McAfee) and it will not harm your computer. To finish your installation, you may have to click “Install” a second time and that will finish you “SikhiToTheMax” gadget installation. Now you have a small little blue box floating on your desktop using very little memory and you can just type the first letters of the Shabad you are looking for and by clicking “Enter” it will bring you to a site with effective results.

2. The second part to this two-step procedure is installing the font for the application. Clicking on the following link will help you to install the Gurmukhi font needed: http://www.sikhnet.com/Gurmukhi-Fonts . All you have to do is click “Open” and then “Install” in the top-left corner. Once installed, you will start to see Gurmukhi letters when you type letters into the application and a complete list of what letters on your keyboard match which letters in Gurmukhi can be found here: http://punlinux.sourceforge.net/aalam/phonetic_kb.html.

Note:

(This application very similar to using Sikhi to the Max II but that is a program for people who want more than just the shabad in their browser’s view. That is designed for users who have Microsoft PowerPoint and would like to see Shabads in a PowerPoint Presentation format. The instructions on how to install and use that program can be found here: http://www.sikhitothemax.com/updates.htm).
