Is Dilruba played same as Taus?

Postby AS Khalsa » Tue Jul 12, 2011 10:22 am

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,
I'm a dilruba player who is looking to expand my range of instruments. I heard from someone that the Taus is virtually identical to the dilruba and I will be able to play it straight away. Is this true?

I also play a Dilruba. I have never played a Taus before, but it SHOULD be the same, other than the difference in size, as this is the only difference between the two.

If you're planning on getting a Taus, you should have no problems playing it, unless I'm not seeing something. Again, I have not played the Taus.

I have played both and yes, it is the size difference and nothing else (maybe trying to get your arm around the peacock feathers too haha)
