Sikhs in NYC, USA

SSA all,

This may be a bit of a random post but please could you advise.

My family and I will be taking a holiday soon to New York City. We will be staying in upper East Side, Manhattan - we are from London - UK.

I am very excited to go but also a little anxious. Since the 9/11 attacks in NY, there has been numerous attacks on Sikhs being mistaken for Muslims. I am just worried that we will undergo racism - would this be the case in NYC?

My father wears a turban and I do not want it to be a hassle for him at the airport there and around the city. Are there many Sikhs in New York?

Also, could you advise if there are any Gurdwaras we can visit and also indian stores.

I look forward to your replies.

Thanks & Regards.
