We have made the last adjustments to the schedule for Camp Miri Piri, June 14th – 18th, and will be an outstanding and memorable three days of inspiration, learning, and enjoying the company of the Sadh Sangat. We am humbled and amazed at the depth and breath of teachers who have come forward to teach at this camp – all with the pure motivation of sharing Chardi Kala with all of us who have been drawn to be together for this experience.

Here's some of what's happening at Camp Miri Piri:

  • Guru Hargobind Sahib - Experience the presence and power of Guru Hargobind, our 6th Guru - the Master of the Miri and Piri (Spiritual and Worldly realms)
  • Akal Takhat Martyrdom - Understand the spiritual significance of the martyrdom of the Akal Takhat as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of 1984.
  • Sat Nam Rasayan (healing) workshop - Have an incredible healing experience with a renowned master of healing. Guru Dev Singh will guide us to make a firm and lasting connection with our souls and experience the essence of deep healing.
  • Man-to-man workshop - Understand and experience the the science of the power and strength of the male role, energy and presence in relation to the shakti aspect of creation. We will get practical tools to harness our energy as men and be powerful and effective in our lives.
  • Woman-to-woman workshop - The women will simultaneously gather to acknowledge the grace and dignity they bring to humanity. We will get practical tools to eliminate insecurity and grow in our power as women.
  • Anand Sahib Workshop - We will experience the depth of Guru Amar Das Ji's 'Song of Bliss' to bring us closer to our soul. We will learn together how to use the Anand Sahib as a tool to help us profoundly step-by-step at each stage of our lives.
  • Grisht Ashram - The Householder's Life workshop - Sharing the wisdom of the Guru on the techniques for successful married life and creating cozy homes.
  • Bowing Jaap Sahib - An amazingly powerful meditation on the “Karam Naam”, the action Names of God. Experience the physical namaskar of Waheguru while we recite Jaap Sahib together in the warrior's rhythm.
  • Warrior Workout - We will be practicing yoga, gatka (shasatar vidiya) and/or exercise workouts every morning. Be ready to be challenged and to ride the waves of energy!
  • Daily yoga classes - To strengthen our nervous and glandular systems and develop a meditative mind and the ability to maintain grace under pressure. This will deeply enhance your spiritual experience as well as deepen your Sikhi.
  • Beautiful Kirtan - Join Snatam Kaur, Chardikala Jatha, and Chardikala Jatha's teacher, Ustaad Narinder Singh throughout the course for beautiful kirtan that will enrapture your soul.
  • Amrit Vela Sadhana - There is nothing sweeter than meditating in the ambrosial hours of the morning in the Sadh Sangat. See you there!
  • Meditation workshops - Giving us direct experience of the realms of Miri and Piri.
  • Sadh Sangat - One of the best parts of a camp is being fully present each other! Join dozens of others who, like you, want to make a connection with our soul as we do it together in this powerful way.

Bibiji Inderjit Kaur
Bibi jiAffectionaly known as Bibiji, this saintly women is the wife of the late Siri Singh Sahib Yogi Bhajan and the Bhai Sahiba of Sikh Dharma. She has dedicated her life to the ministerial and missionary work of the Sikhs in the West, teaching and counseled people for over 30 years. Bibiji will be with us for the camp, and talk with us each afternoon. We are fortunate to have her blessings and guidance for the camp.

Loved by people around the world, Jagat Guru Singh Khalsa, Sada Sat Simran Singh Khalsa, and Harimandir Jot Singh Khalsa will host the camp with high energy and soaring spirits. Beautiful kirtan, challenging exercises, deep meditations, and honestly spoken wisdom are the gifts of the Chardi Kala Jatha to Camp Miri Piri.

Guru Dev Singh - Sat Nam Rasayan
One of the foremost healers and teachers of our time, Guru Dev Singh brings practical spirituality to our lives through healing, awareness, and the silence of the mind. By learning to access shunya, the zero-point within ourselves, we find peace and strength to serve and heal our world. Guru Dev Singh will teach the camp on Wednesday night, guiding the group to make a firm and lasting connection with our souls.

Snatam Kaur Khalsa
Snatam KaurWe are so excited to confirm that Snatam Kaur and Guru Ganesha Singh will play on Monday night. Snatam Kaur has the most amazing voice and the love and devotion she has for her Guru shines through. To witness pure devotion is a humbling experience which can bring about a deep spiritual connection to the divine within. Snatam Kaur's voice will resonate in your heart, her voice is pure, healing and uplifting, she is truly a gifted teacher and devotional singer.

Ustad Narinder Singh Sandhu
His beautiful Gurbani Kirtan captures the heart and strengthens our spirit. Ustaadji teaches classical Gurbani Kirtan at Miri Piri Academy, Guru Nanak Dev University, as well as teaching the Chardi Kala Jatha. He will play on Tuesday night in the Gurdwara, sharing his inspiration with the Sangat.
Shanti Kaur Khalsa
Shanti KaurShanti Kaur Khalsa is a wife, mother, and security professional. She is the Vice President at Akal Security.  She is an active Sikh patriarch in the United States and abroad. Her involvement with Sikh teenagers has led to mentoring young people around the world in the Sikh rehit, both in their personal and professional lives. She is an active kirtani, and has traveled widely giving inspirational kirtan and lecture programs. She is a published historian, and regularly contributes articles on both current events and Sikh history to Sikh publications.
Harjot Kaur Singh
Harjot KaurA renowned Gursikh from Calgary, Dr. Harjot Kaur brings to us the concept of Miri and Piri as instructed to the sangat by Guru Hargobind Sahib. Her class includes discussion, meditation, and Gurbani – bringing these beautiful concepts to life with her enlightened instruction.
Gurutej Singh Khalsa
Guru TejA poet, a warrior, and a businessman, Gurutej Singh walks many paths while walking the one. He is the founder and Senior Vice President of Akal Security, one of the largest security companies in America. For thirty years he traveled extensively with the Siri Singh Sahib as his sevadar and student. Gurutej Singh has published two books and regularly travels and teaches on Sikhism and meditation. The wisdom of his words, both written and spoken, have brought inspiration to thousands of people.
Nirvair Singh Khalsa
Nirvair SinghNirvair Singh has studied with Yogi Bhajan since 1970 and is one of the formost experts on yoga and meditation today. He lead the Kundalini Research Institute (KRI), and emerses himself everyday with the vast amount of video and audio tapes of Yogi Bhajan. Nirvair Singh will teach a yoga class that will amaze both beginners and experts alike!

Well known for their depth of spiritual knowledge and straight talk, Kirn Kaur and Guruchander Singh will host separate meetings with the men and the ladies to answer questions and explore the challenges that we all face as spiritual beings in the modern world. This is a rare opportunity to discuss difficult issues with wise and wonderful mentors.

 

Guruka Singh

Guruka Singhis the original founder of Sikhnet, and has dedicated his life to spreading joy in the true spirit of Sarbat Da Bhalla. He is a teacher, writer and inveterate punster. He loves telling stories and has spent many hours telling them to his kids.  His love of poetry and Gurbani has led him to translate Yogi Bhajan’s Gurmukhi poems in Furmaan Khalsa as well as translating Japji Sahib and other Gurbani.

Navleen Kaur
Ek Ong Kaar K
An inspiring teacher and singer. She brings her life experience as a student of Yogi Bhajan, a professional teacher and a loving mother to everything she does. She has the gift to naturally motivate and develop leadership in others and her deep devotion to the Guru shines through her every word. On Wednesday, we will be blessed to sit with her and experience her relaxed and joyful wisdom.

 

Kartar Singh Khalsa, DOM

Dr. Kartar S. Khalsa is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine practicing Acupuncture and Herbology at the GRD Health Centers in Espanola and Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has been in practice since 1992 and has been living a yogic lifestyle since 1987. This unique combination brings the expertise of a licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine, a trained Acupuncturist, and a KRI Certified Kundalini Yoga teacher. Dr. Khalsa possesses a passion for self-empowering people to take control of their health through diet and cleanse technologies. His dynamic abilities as a healthcare professional and a compassionate advocate of yogic technology were inspired by his spiritual teacher, Yogi Bhajan.
Deva Singh Khalsa

Deva Singh is a youth leader helping found volunteer organizations. He has started many initiatives including teaching drug de-addiciton programs in New Mexico. He is passionate about Kundalini yoga inlcuding mens teachings, and de-addiction technology.

Ek Ongkar Kaur Khalsa
Ek Ong Kaar KEk Ong Kaar Kaur is a Sikh scholar having written translations to Japji Sahib and Anand Sahib as well as leading workshops on both banis.  She is the Creative Director for Sikh Dharma International.

 

Panch Nishan Kaur Khalsa
Panch NishanPanch Nishan Kaur is one of the youth leaders working with Khalsa Council, and Sikh Dharma International. She studies organizational communication and management. Her ability to connect people from around the world is refreshing and inspiring.
Ravi Kaur Khalsa
Panch NishanRavi Kaur Khalsa is the Executive Director for Sikh Dharma International. She travels to Sikh communities around the world sharing her experiences and teaching the Sikh lifestyle to youth. Ravi Kaur is a talented kirtani, inspiring sangats with her energy and love for Gurbani. She has represented 3HO for many years leading the Izzat Da Punjab bhangra troupe, and brings the joy of dance to all ages.
Siri Nirangkar Singh Khalsa
Panch NishanSiri Nirangkar Singh is a paramedic and martial expert, serving as Yogi Bhajan’s bodyguard for many years. He was the first kesh-dhari Sikh to work in the New Mexico emergency medical system, opening the way for many young Sikhs to find a career in emergency medicine. He is a role model and mentor for the youth in New Mexico.

Daily Schedule

This course will be on 3 themes for each of the 3 full days
Day 2 (15th): Connecting to your Soul
Day 3 (16th): Shakti and Bhakti
Day 4 (17th): Miri and Piri

The Camp Miri Piri schedule is for the full days of June 15th, 16th and 17th.  The first day Sunday the 14th will be arrival day; registration starts at 2pm, beginning ardas at 4pm and dinner and kirtan in the evening. The closing day, Thursday the 18th will end after breakfast, giving people time for travelling.

The day will begin in the Amrit Vela with Japji Sahib at 3:45AM, followed by a special sadhana of Bowing Jaap Sahib. After the Jaap Sahib, we will finish the morning with banis, meditation, Gurbani Kirtan and Hukam from our Guru in the Gurdwara with the whole sangat. Armed with the love our Guru, we will fearless face the day starting with a good hot cup of chai and a stiff gatka workout on the lawn.

After we shower and dress, we’ll meet at the Langar Hall for a day packed with classes that are out of this world!

Physical Directions: From Albuquerque, follow I-25 north to Santa Fe.  Exit right onto St. Francis Drive - Hwy 84/285.  Follow Hwy 84/285 through Santa Fe and approximately 26 miles towards Espanola.

As you approach Espanola, there will be a gentle hill and a four-way traffic light – with the Dream Catcher Theater on the right.  Turn right at the light onto SR 106 – the Yogi Bhajan Memorial Highway.  Take your second right onto Sombrillo Road.  Continue about ¼ mile and see the gold-dome Gurdwara on your left. 

Air Travel:
The closest airport is Albuquerque, New Mexico, approximately 90 miles from the Gurdwara (about 1.5 hour drive).  Airport code is ABQ.

Airport Shuttle:
Twin Hearts Shuttle Company will drive you from the Airport directly to the Gurdwara. They will also pick you up for your return flight.
Shuttles are $40 each way.

Shuttle Schedule (7 days a week)
Albuquerque Airport to Española: 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM, 5:30 PM.
Española to Albuquerque Airport: 8 AM, 10 AM, 12 PM, and 2:30 PM.

Booking Dates :

Arrive as early on June 14th into Albuquerque as you like, and get a morning or afternoon shuttle. From the Albuquerque airport to Espanola is about 1.5 hour drive. The sangat will be in Sunday divan from 10am to about 1pm, and you are welcome to join for that. Registration is from 2-4pm, and the camp beginning Ardas is at 4pm. Afterwards there will be dinner and Kirtan in the evening. So you are welcome to come during any point of this because its really like a arrive and get setup. Please come at a time that you can get a good nights sleep because the rigorous camp schedule starts the next morning

Depart on the June 18th taking a shuttle after breakfast to the airport. We suggest you book a noon or afternoon flight.
*Unless you are planning on attending Summer Solstice, in which case you should plan to depart June 26 - 28.

The scheduled was designed for the first and last days to be for traveling and getting settled. So don't worry about coming before the 14th or after the 18th because those are not full days.

 

Peace Prayer Day & Summer Solstice Camp

We have scheduled the camp to end before Peace Prayer Day on June 20th. This is a free event that kicks off the Summer Solstice Camp. Thousands of people from around the world come to participate in this interfaith event.

We strongly encourage all who are able to go to the Summer Solstice camp as well. Summer Solstice is a 9 day retreat (June 18 - 27) with Kundalini yoga and Sikh Dharma. During this time there will be 3 days of white tantric yoga on June 23 - 25. Learn More Here.

Simple Group Accommodations are provided by the camp
The camp has budgeted for housing for all participants. This is geared towards youth and will be communal living. Those who prefer more privacy are more than welcome to explore other housing like local sangat rentals and Espanola Hotels.

Inn at the Delta:
Located in the center of Espanola, the inn has oversized rooms decorated with original artwork and southwestern style furnishings, kiva fireplaces, large Jacuzzi tubas and queen size beds.

The inn provides beautiful views of the surrounding area, especially of Black Mesa, a 2.7 million year old geological formation held sacred by the Pueblo Indians. Child Care

Child care is not provided by the camp, but a sangat member named Ravi Kaur works at a Trio school and would be happy to do child care for $25 a day. Her phone number is 505-747-3962.

Registration Fees

Registration fee includes daily vegetarian breakfast, lunch and dinner and all course materials.  First meal will be Sunday dinner, and last meal will be Thursday breakfast. It also includes simple accommodations as explained above.

Pre-registration Fee on or before May 1st:  $199
Registration after May 1st:  $249

Work Exchanges

There are a limited number of work exchanges available.  To receive a full exchange, please be prepared to arrive early or stay late and work several hours each day.  We are seeking sevadars in ground clean-up, food prep, and kitchen clean-up.
