The Birth of Gobind Rai

Bhikan Shah was a well known Muslim saint. He was very dedicated and honest. Priests and commoners respected him alike. Every day him and his followers would bow towards the holy city of Mecca. His students were surprised because one day he was bowing in the opposite direction, towards the city of Patna. This caused some doubts and some people thought he was going crazy. They thought, "What is he doing? Has he gone mad? Mecca is the other direction!"
So they asked Bhikan Shah why he was bowing the opposite way and he said, "If you could see what kind of a being has been born there, you would bow in this direction too." Bhikan Shah felt that some great soul had incarnated. A beloved saint straight from the lap of God had arrived on this earth to help humanity. This intuitive and wise Sufi leader determined to visit this great soul. He went to visit the baby Gobind Rai in Patna.
He brought with him two pots. When he met with the baby they seemed to recognize each other. Bhikan Shah placed the two pots in front of him. Gobind Rai, with his playful spirit, reached both hands out on either pot. Bhikan became very happy and left in good spirits. The relatives of the Guru and the Sikhs asked him what this funny scene was about.
Bhikan Shah explained, "One of the pots represented the Muslim faith, the other represented the Hindu faith. I was asking him which he would favor. Naturally he chose both. Which means he favors all people and all religions. This divine blessed soul will be the protector of all humanity." And so it was Guru Gobind Singh defended the righteousness of all people from the oppressors and set up a universal army that will always protect humanity.
